My point was that removing guns doesn't stop the violence...

I once did some research and found that in proportion (there's a significant population difference from what I remember) the UK had more overall crime related deaths than the US despite the fact they have a gun ban. Unfortunately, I don't have any proof of my research anymore. I will have to look it all up again someday and check it out.

Also, like MSon, though I realize this isn't really the topic of this conversation, havve always played violent games / watched violent films, and It's never negatively affected me. Actually, nowadays, I feel remorseful for even killing bugs. I try not to kill bugs unless they're being evil and invading my house or biting me.

Personally I think I'd rather be shot than stabbed or cut but that's just me. Maybe it's because I don't know what getting shot feels like? I don't know what a serious stab feels like either, but I know sharp metal edges feel horrible while getting normal cuts I dunno how emo's can cut themselves. That gives me the willies!

http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_percap-crime-murders-per-capita

The US has about 3 times the amount of murders per capita.

Unless you happen to be a huntsman or law enforcer the ONLY function a gun has is to inflict harm on someone, so many would argue that owning a gun is morally wrong.

In fact by owning a gun one becomes much more likely to be shot because of the gun's availability, e.g. A child may fire it, thinking it a toy or a loved one my fire it during a heated moment. I wouldn't endanger my family by having one in the house, they just make it incredibly easy to seriously hurt someone.

For Fathers and Sons who enjoy wholy spirits.

Who would ever say that owning one is great happy fun times? You own one to protect yourself, not because we think it'll make rainbows and flowers.

Yes, overall. I wonder what happens when you take out some of the really large cities (where gang violence is a major problem) like LA or New York, then we'll see how it compares

And lastly, it looks like your stats show all murders, not those committed with guns.

Hurray for teh logd!

"

And you protect yourself from people with guns, who got the guns because THEY wanted to protect themselves from people with gun(EDIT: Well dangerous people anyways) and those people got guns because they wanted to protect...
You see where this is going?

I understand where you're coming from. But other people own guns to shoot you with and steal your money and rape your wife. I'd want to own a gun to protect myself from evil people, not because I want to commit evil acts.

If this is correct then there are a lot worse places than LA or new York.

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.

Actually today I went firing guns with my friend for fun. We're not hunters or law enforcers, but had a good time shooting targets. Your statement is ridiculous and offensive.

There are laws here that require you to lock your bullets and guns in separate cabinets.

But this argument is moot. Most people wouldn't support all-out banning alcohol to curb drunk driving, so why do people support all-out banning guns to curb gun violence? 99% of people drink responsibly and don't get behind the wheel of a car when they're drunk--- and 99% of people who own guns don't go shooting up liquor stores or putting them in their child's crib

Guess where all the famous horrible gun crimes happen in america? Gun free zones. Gun free zones are complete heaven for criminals and make it a lot easier for insane people to control a situation which probably would have turned out better if some people had methods of defending themselves.

Don't try to reply with the "oh but they got guns from non-gun free areas, if they were gun free zones then it wouldn't of happened!" because that is b*******. They would have just bought them from criminals, or used a different weapon. They still would have commited the crime.

So you want to ban all guns? I think the people who have had their lives and families lives saved by a gun would completly disagree with you. We are not in a happy fluffy world where everyone obeys the law.
