Who knows as to hide these HUDS at the beginning of game and by pressing the button and unhide (while the button is pressed) to illuminate

XBOBER,

Welcome to the FPSC forum. What you're asking is totally possible via the .fpi scripting that FPSC uses.

While it might allow you to have the function you seek, providing a new member such as yourself with a scripting solution will not help you to learn the .fpi scripting language (which really isn't hard at all), or force you to find solutions for yourself.

Realize that nobody will create something for anyone here, unless they are willing to make an effort themselves.

Examine existing scripts. You can learn a great deal by looking at these. Create your own scripts, using existing scripts as templates/tutorials.

The search button really is your best friend on these boards. Get familiar with it, and use it often. There are tons of posts that you can examine, that will often tell you exactly how to script exactly what it is you seek.

Again, welcome to the forum. Best of luck to you in your endeavours.

Thanks,

Seth Black

@Seth Black:

Wow, I think that's the first "formal" post I've ever seen from you. Congrats, I suppose.

@XBOBER:

I have written a tutorial on HUDs, which can be found in the "Official Community Guide" which can be found in a sticky on the Chat board. That tutorial will give you a bit more of an insight as to how you can go about hiding the Weapon, Lives, and Health HUDs.

The illumination, I'm a bit confused about... not sure what you want to illuminate.

...nah. I used to do them quite often, back in the day.

I've just grown weary of spending much effort towards expending much energy towards lengthy posts these days...

TO CHANGE HUDS AND DELETE THEM (MOVE THEM AWAY FROM THE SCENE)
You need a fpsc hud changer....
Like one called "Fps v3"
drag the huds away and save it.
And then you have no hud!

@Silver Eye Productions:

In no way is it required to use any kind of software you suggested. All those applications simply change the setuplevel.fpi and titlepage.fpi scripts. This can be done manually WITHOUT the use of a third party program.

...manual edits are always best anyway.

Learn something from the ground up, and you can accomplish virtually anything...

@Mad Nightmare:

I apprciate the thought, but the only reason that works is because of what I did to the "setuplevel.fpi"

To have that line work as advertised, you would need to give the appropriate names to the HUDs they belong to inside the setuplevel.fpi script.

How would you edit and show a numeric HUD? Was this with your mod? I would assume that you would have to use scancodekeypressed to show and hide the HUDS, but how did you make the numerics function after that?

Showing and hiding any HUD can be done with any version of FPSC.

The simple answer to this is:
The "perma-HUDs" in the setuplevel.fpi script were not given names. I just gave them names and used the normal FPI commands to hide them using those names.

You don't NEED to use scancodekeypressed to show or hide a HUD, you could also hide them automatically in a script under certain conditions. The condition is just normally when the player presses a key.

Do the numeric huds still function after they are hidden? I mean, do they update your health status while thay are hidden?
