Hi - I've just written my first matrix and it has worked pretty well. All the textures are in the right place and it looks how I had imagined it should.

However there is a small gap between every tile and I can't figure out why it's there or how to get rid of it.

Any help would be appriciated - Thanks

It is not a gap, it is part of an adjacent tile that has 'bled' into ajoining textures. It is the most annoying bug with matrix textures and I believe update 5 will have more control of this.

The only way at present to eliminate the lines, is to set the filter value to 1 in the SET MATRIX command BUT you will lose all the nice smoothing. At least it looks neater. Maybe once U5 comes out we can revert back to normal.

Puffy, try making a texture where one half is light blue and the other half is bright pink. prepare matrix texture to divide it into 2 tiles then texture your matrix with the blue half.

Set your camera so that its close to the matrix and looking a long the matrix. You should see a hiddeous pink bleed through in the distance. Well, technically you shouldnt... but you do.

Thats the bleed through that Sonic is refering to. Its not always visible if the matrix tiles from the texture image have similar colours.

Looks really cool, but is it really a matrix or an object?

Smile and be happy, things could be worse!

It's my guess that Puffy isn't using a normal texture image with the Prepare Matrix texture command - where the bug is in DBP, but rather a colourmap image overlaid onto the matrix. Patch 5 has a new TRIM parameter which will cure this problem.

If you use one large single colour image for the textures and overlay it, then each texture Prepare Matrix Texture creates is so similar, the bug doesn't show up.
