I just got a brand new laptop on eBay, that happens to be Vista. It hasn't been delivered yet but will be by the end of the week. My favorite game of all time is Age of Mythology, and I wanted to know if it's compatible with Vista? If theres some special action I need to take or file I need to download, I really would want to know what it is.

Hopefully that means this one does, but have you tried with this game?

unrelated: What edition of Vista do you have? I want to know if Home Premium is worth it, or if I should just go back to XP.

Age of Mythology will work perfectly - it's a Microsoft game! Anyway, I have Vista Home Premium and it's great.

Saying its a Microsoft game does nothing, Since Fable crashes before the launcher is even loaded, or the splash screen(Depending which edition you have).

Really? All the Microsoft games I have have either worked perfectly, or have had patches released for them to work fine under Vista. That's just my experience though, but the odds are that AoM should work fine.

AoM works fine indeed, just installed it. Though fable still doesn't, even with the latest patch installed.

EDIT : Funny part about fable is, Everyone says it only happens with Soundblaster hardware, Which I don't have. or with some other weird card I don't have... And Fable has no patches, it just redirects to an XP solution centre, on which nothing usefull can be found.

Dude, I think those kinds of questions can be answered by a simple Google search.

I tried, but it was answered by questions from other people about some unfixable blinking problem.

You clearly didn't search hard enough? Search for "Titan Quest specifications" or something.

If you can't run a game in Vista, there's usually an easy to find solution, which tend to be on the net.

I found Final Fantasy VIII crashed on start-up and Dark Messiah was extremely glitchy, all I need to do was download the nVidia patch for FF8, relocate the game executable to a different folder and get the latest update for Dark Messiah and both run perfectly under Vista now.

A simple google search provided answers for both...though I haven't found a solution to Summoner, mind you I couldn't even get that to run properly under XP either.

Dark Messiah ran fine here without a fix, no glitches what-so-ever, but that might be because I have my system set up to work with the Source engine...

And I looked on the internet for Fable solutions by the way, but they all tell you to blaim microsoft and revert to XP, or to a page that doesn't exist.

as far i know win 2k isn't typical "multimedia" operating system so whats the point comparing it with vista !?! im on vista (64 bit ultimate) and i got no problems with any game! the only problem i had so far was with "beyond good and evil" but it was installer issue! just update your vista and i think everything should work!

I think his point was more of saying that if you say that because it's a microsoft game, it has to work on vista, but in that case, since it's a microsoft game, it has to work on Windows 2000.
