FRAGMENT

---First Person Horror Adventure---

Fragment is a horror adventure, though in a very unique way, there is no enemies. I'm trying to create atmospheric environment instead. The game will be rather short, I could bet on less than an hour.

Story

The story involves a research organization, which test human actions in different situations. The player get's into the "Alone" section of the program, to test human actions while totally alone. Though there is sub-categories, like AloneJoy, or AloneCommon life. The player get's the harder test, AloneFear.

You play as Jacob Mayers, a common guy in the world, this test will change his life forever.

Instead of preparing for the test, they knock him down, then placing him into the test.
The outcome will be different if you are prepared and know what's going on, than if you suddenly wake up in a damp basement not having any knowledge about this at all, true?

The title means One of Many, means you (the player) are only a small part of this experiment.

What features are implemented?

-First person controlls (Mouselook, WASD and X(?))
-Scary environment
-Disturbing, psychotic events
-No enemies
-Music composed by NGXmusical (I found these track suitable)

Controlls:

WASD and X - Move around
Walk with S, Run with W, Backpadle with X, strafe with A and D.

Mouse - Look around

Esc - Quit

Current Version - 1.0.2

Tis an interesting concept ^^. Nice smooth movement and such, I have a couple complaints though:

First, are you planning to let the user look up and down with the mouse? I found it disorienting to have to look straight all the time.

Also, why does pressing 's' make you walk forward slowly instead of moving backwards? It seems like 'w' should be forward, 's' should be backwards, and pressing shift should mod the speed.

Oh, another thing, most people would prefer just a zip archive as opposed to an installer, it's too much of a hassle to install things.

Thanks!

First - That's implemented in the new version.

Second - I want to have the same control scheme as Ultima Underworld, It's quite good.

And lastly - This was the old version, which mostly was a test for some modification to the installer. I'm aware that people want a zipped version, which will be included in the next release.

A Horror! My type of game. The story is top-notch aswell. But watch out to avoid some Cliches in horror.

Sometimes, you have to be cruel to be kind......

Although I see why you put the player into an environment where they're alone (as part of the test), I really do think that there should be some kind of danger, because if there's no danger then the horror is drastically reduced. (Or, rather, if you know there is no danger, the horror is drastically reduced.) You could have environmental problems, like being trapped in a gas chamber, or animal dangers (eg. don't get caught by the tiger!) or you could even have a moment near the end where the experiment goes "wrong" for some reason, and you meet people who are not terribly pleased to see you.

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

I'm currently looking for someone with modelling experience. My crappy models won't hold much longer!

And on top of that, I would like the modeller to have experience in texturing. All my previous modellers seem to lack that skill. If you would like to create some models, just leave a message here and I'll contact you.

I think your game would have to be further along for most modelers to be attracted. Just use placeholders.
