let's just say that you'd need someone like Plystire(or coffee grunt) and the willingness to deal with the possibility of low framerate so...I suggest you go to a dedicated engine that was made for RPGs.

No, if you use variables, you can have level up, per level. Mabey you could have a reward for getting an entire level up in a level. Still, I say use ply's mod for this.

This could be easier achieved if weapons were scriptable (and dont jump on me for hijacking the thread, lol) and if you had the ability to divide and such by variables. Because think, in the weapon script you could have it do damage, but have that damage be maybe divided by the level variable, or reduced by say "level"*2, then apply that weapon to an enemy, and you have level depandent damage on yourself. You could have your weapons add damage based on your level as well, If you made magic like weapons using flak, you could have them subtract from a mana variable, it just takes clever know-how.

@diabl0:

I suggest before getting your hands seriously dirty with the amount of scripting this would require, you go look into some scripting tutorials first.

Go to the FPSC Chat board and find the "Official FPSC Community Guide" or something like that, lol. It's a sticky topic. Download that document and start learning all that you can about scripting. You'll need every last ounce of that knowledge. Just, don't be put off by how large the document is, lol. It's very big, but you won't be reading all of it at once. Just start with the tutorials and you'll be fine.

Back onto how this could be done:
Using Ply's Mod V1.07a, there's a command called "plrdmgmult" which will set the player's damage multiplier. This could be used for increasing how much damage the player puts out. For "defense", you could make a script similar to the Armor script I created, just have it find how much damage the player took, do some calculations on that amount, give the player their health back and then take away how much they SHOULD have taken.

@ply-

ooh clever, good work ply, i wont lie, i dont even use ur mod anymore. I'm sitckin with 1.12 until v2, just because downgrading doesnt work for me, I get some memblock error and I so badly wanted to try s4mod with airmod support

@diabl0-

Don't worry about being a noob, I am too. Just listen tothe senior scripters' advice, and you can get a start in no time, also, if you are looking for some good tutorials check fpsfree.com. you can find a good AI scripting tutorial by ply, and a tutorial to help understand FPI language and its conditions and actions by xplosys.

I end my message by saying welcome to the FPSC community.

Or, you could simply set the enemies health
high in the beginning and casually set it lower
to make you appear stronger as you go through
the levels... but then i guess you'd want some
to be stronger than others, right...

Offset a little to the left. Or was it the right?

If your going to make an RPG I suggest RPG Maker VX, or XP. Google them, they are good, but I am thinking of making my RPG an FPS because of better overall gameplay.

TGC nas a new software called Rhelm Crafter or something like that. It seems quite Powerful.

@Hybrid:

Ummm... I think that was Blitz3D's competitor to FPSC. I'm not sure anymore but I believe TGC didn't make Blitz3D.

Making an MMORPG creator to combat an FPS Creator?

Bit stupid, ain't it?

Ingenious IMHO, and to be frank, it has a lot more potential straight out of the box. It's open source as well, and they haven't had the need to patch it in a loooong time to my understanding.

Indeed, which is why people like it.

I wouldn't expect everyone to be able to use it effectively, though. There are a bit of technical things that people may want to look into doing for their specific engine before actually making anything useful.
