Yes there will be a film. Mark Wahlberg plays as the man himself Max Payne, and Mila Kunis as Mona Sax. For those who don't know who Mila Kunis is she played Meg Griffin in Family guy, and Jackie from "That 70's Show", it is being directed by John Moore, Director of "The Omen" and "Flight of the Phoniex" The trailer looks overall pretty good, but on the trailer I was a bit freaked out by these weird angels grabbing him. Whats with that? Anyways whose never seen the trailer watch it here..
Max Payne Trailer

a list of the cast:

Mark Wahlberg ... Max Payne

Mila Kunis ... Mona Sax

Beau Bridges ... BB Hensley
Ludacris ... Jim Bravura

Donal Logue ... Alex Balder

Chris O'Donnell ... Jason Colvin
Joel Gordon ... Owen Green
Kate Burton ... Nicole Horne

Rico Simonini ... Detective Amerini

Ted Atherton ... Detective Shipman
Bill Boyd ... Bravura's driver

Marianthi Evans ... Michelle Payne

So whats your oppinions do you think it will be a "Fall of Max Payne" or a Good film?

I don't think I'll dignify this with a post...

wait, I did.

I think what it comes down to is the job the director and crew and how well they can turn it into a movie, I usually bite my tongue when a video game movie comes out, but they can be good. However, sometimes theu just seems like the writers can't come up with good ideas and find a plot, character and scene that somebody else has done, cutting out the best part of the job.

But, we shall see.

Unbelievable, out of all the video games to turn to movies Max Payne has to be one of the easiest, yet they are still gonna manage to mess it up. Why can't they actually follow the storyline for once? Silent Hill did the same thing and you know what, the original storyline was a lot better than the film one.

Meh. there werent any memorable scenes from the games in that trailer. Except maybe the elevator doors closing with Mona behind them.

I wouldnt see this at the movies, but it might be a fun rent.

This is my WIP, not even ready for a WIP thread yet though.http://smallgroupproductions.com/

This is hollywood we're talking about here, unless they get the right director, cast or writers then the chances are they'd just ruin it. I suppose it's a difficult task catching what makes a video games story interesting into a feature length movie, though often or not, sticking to the game plot is probably a good idea. Movies based on books managed it, such as LOTR and Harry Potter - though Blade Runner and The Shining made their own changes (hence Blade Runner was could Blade Runner and not the name of the book) but it was done well, which is because their directors are talented and are capable of doing that and making it good. (I actually prefer Stanley Kubrick's version of the ending in The Shining)

I doubt I'll see this until it comes to Sky Premiere in a year or two. Trailer seems to me to place itself in similarities to other movies of a similar genre, just with a Max Payne edge to it.

The supernatural elements are from Max's dream sequences in the game, are they not?

He needs to have this look on his face during the whole movie:

When he is high or dreaming... It seems that they are trying to make it into a max payne vs demons from outer space sort of thing from the description. I don't care too much though, the game was fantastic and the story was good enough not to warrent a movie. I just found it funny that they chucked away the script of the game when that alone could have made it a reasonably good movie to watch

So let me get this straight, the supernatural bits are were he's tripping off his head on painkillers. Other than that it's got a great film noir style but I think a style along the lines of sin city would be better, even if it's only used in a few scenes.

When will movie companies learn? When people make movies based off of video games they always turn out horrible, as when game companies make games from movies they always suck. They don't mix together.

Well the lego games were pretty good, those are pretty much the only real good games that I've found that are based on movies.

Lego don't count. Lego Star Wars and that are based on Lego, basically toys, it's just a coinscidence that the plots are similar.

Yeah totally agree, that Goldeneye game on the 64 sucked sooo bad :p. There have been a few good films to games, not sure there has been any good games to films yet though.

Mark Wahlberg was great in shooter and four brothers so I'm gonna go see it, or at least buy the DVD.

As I said in the other Max Payne thread, Marky Mark is a horrible choice. He isn't tough enough.

Clive Owen > Marky Mark + his funky bunch.

While it looks okay I'd much rather see a Legend of Zelda film directed by Guillermo Del Toro. It would be awesome.

-Chronicles Of Riddick
-Blade Runner
-Star Wars games: Battlefront II, Tie-Fighter, etc...
-The Battle For Middle-Earth
-Alien vs Predator 2
-Indiana Jones games
-King Kong was also nice, but not VERY good
And I liked The Matrix games Enter The Matrix, Path Of Neo, but they had many bad reviews (but also good)
