Hi,
This is my first "real" project with DBP, since I earlier never understood how it worked. But now I do.

General idea:
The game I'm working on is a FPS game taking place in our days. It takes place in different parts of the world, so the level design and enemies you will face will be different. See the story for more inforamtion.

Story:

Screen shots(new to old):

Progress/things done:
= done
= WIP
= not started
= WIP, but put aside for the moment

Menu
Walking
Jumping
Shooting
Crouchig
Sprinting
Guns and ammo
Enemies
Event system
Collisions
Sounds
Effects
Name

Download:

I hope that you enjoyed this and please post comments and constructive critism.

well i think once you actually have a storyline it might be easier to come up with a better name for it. i could probably add some ideas but i need some substance to work with.

well, you have a point there. I'll work out a simple story line and then go in depth later with it. I'll post it as soon as I'm done with the simple story line.

Anyway, what do you think of the screen shots? I would love to get some comments.

Thanks for the comment

Unfortunantly, I did not make that MP5 model, I downloaded it from TurboSquid. It's just a place holder, since I cannot animate it. I'm working on my own weapon models. There will hopefully be some new ones next release, with some missions and better enemies

I'm really unhappy to tell that I cannot continue this project.

The reason why is that I cannot compile it, beacause when I try, the compiler crashes. This only happens to this project, no else. Could it be that is has too much codes or so? I don't belive that, it's about 1000 lines of code. Could someone help me?

1: Could be some mistakes in your code, go through it all and look for things that doenst make sense

2: Check if it crashes on other projects too.

1. I did, and everything makes sense, all code lines are used and works as they should.

2. It's only this project that does this. Not a single of my other projects does like this.

This happens just after the compiler bar pops up. It does nothing for a few seconds and then it crashes. It's really annyoing. Maybe it's my computer than can't compile it? Maybe to slow?

Two suggestions:

1) Open your project in CodeSurge or Syndergy and try to compile.

2) Copy & Paste all of your code into notepad. Make a fresh project and paste it in.

If those fail then I guess something's up with your source.

This sounds something like an error that I used to be having.

Try installing this DirectX update:
http://forumfiles.thegamecreators.com/?i=1029863

It doesn't matter if your dxdiag SAYS you have 9.0c, it's still possible that it's not quite the right version, which would cause a crash similar to what you are describing, try running that updater and see if it fixes anything.

Are you using any plugins for the game? If you are, that could be the problem. Try uninstalling them then reinstall them.

Random thought - try compiling it with Synergy Editor. For some reason my project works in synergy, but doesn't work in CodeSurge. I haven't tried it in the normal DBP editor though...

check your project folder. sometimes dbp will create a text file titled 'crash'. it might not be too clear, but it could give a hint at what might be wrong. i have a little 4000 lines of code and i dont get a crash when i compile. could it be something you added in your code recently? or has it all of a sudden been doing this?
