You shouldn't really buy a graphics card for a laptop, it's a very technical job to replace a GFX card in a laptop compared to a PC. Get yourself a PC with a 7900 or 8800 Geforce card, like a Dell XPS for instance.

If you're wanting a gaming laptop buy one that's already made, I bought myself an Acer - not tried UT3 at full settings, nor will I (doesn't appeal to me)

Just get anything that exceeds the recommended settings - if you want your gaming experience to last go quite high spec - having things like GeForce 9800 (or 8800) will do justice, if you're going to Run Vista, spend a bit more on RAM, if you're going 64bit, then may as well take advantage of it as well.

I wouldn't run it at highest quality even if you can when playing online... Just the slightest stutter can mean your toast, some players on there are brutal!

I have found it to be a bit buggy anyway and get random crashes at the most annoying times...

Anyway if you want to know how your current pc will run a game go to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest and it will tell you if your system meets the requirements for a particular game...

I've had no problems at all with UT3, I actually bought the 360 version as well, because it allows split screen 2 player campaigns etc. If I buy a game twice then it must be good! (except Two Towers on the 360, that was a mistake).

I get far more problems with BF2 than UT3.

I tried the UT3 demo, then after I upgraded the demo (newer demo) it stopped working. Haven't been able to get the new or old demo to work since.

As Thraxas said, you probably don't want to run at highest quality online. Most of us turn off the majority of the special effects like foliage and such and keep graphics detail at a minimum, just so we can spot the enemy that much more easily and smoothly.

Minimum graphics for online play on any game is essential as it can lower your ping by up to 30 milliseconds.

how would a graphics card affect your ping? A better card reduces lag, but thats not network lag.

I've got a Desktop PC with:

Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 3.00GHz
2GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7950 512MB
Windows XP Pro

And it runs UT3 with all settings at their highest with no lag.

One site: SRtest.com

You need to be on the PC you're testing though
