Okay, so I finally got fed up enough with the dell crapware and it's constant crashing of my computer that I reformated the whole thing. But in doing so, I wiped out the recovery partition that was used by Vista so the Vista DVD didn't need to be used so much. I have the Vista DVD, but I think this Recovery Partion is a good idea.

Does anyone know how to set Vista up so it uses that drive as a recovery drive? I've been looking around for answers, but I can't seem to find any.

Recovery partitions are for newbs. Use the extra space for pron.

PROTIP: You can make a copy of the dvd, it's not copy protected.

PROTIP2: I'm double posting so that you actually see this, but if I recall, you can copy the contents of the disc to a partition and run the installer from within windows, it'll reboot the computer and proceed to run the restore/install process.

Very handy. That said, if I needed to reinstall windows from scratch, I wouldn't trust that partition, because only a nasty virus would require my reinstalling windows.

Hmmm, I guess I'll just absord the extra space. I back everything up on an external anyway.

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for the advice
