Every time I try to run DarkBASIC I get this error that says:

'This application has failed to start because d3drm.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.'

I reinstalled it and ran it again, but I got the SAME ERROR!

I spent $40 on this and I don't want to have to buy it again, any help would be well appreciated

What version of DirectX do you have installed?

Quote: "To find out which version of DirectX is installed on your system, click Start/Run (WinKey+R) and type 'dxdiag' without the quotes. The version will appear on the first screen at the bottom of the system info list similar to the picture below."

this has something to do with vista just download this
and follow the steps below

Quote: "Steps:Copy d3drm.dll to your c:windowssystem32 directory (not to be confused with c:windowssystem directory)
or place in the same folder as the executable that needs it. if you copy it to your system folder then you wont have to copy and place it in the folders of every program that needs it and You will also be able to play all your old games that ran on xp the exception being those that need to be ran in pure DOS"

Yeah, I have vista too, you will need to download the dll (googlable or follow ed's link) and copy it to system32 and it will work fine.

Ever notice how in Microsoft word, the word "microsoft" is auto corrected to be "Microsoft" but "macintosh" just gets the dumb red underline?

@ mcdonn123 : hello there, I'm not sure if you bought the electronic or the boxed. If you bought the electronic version simpmly go to your account and download it from your purchases there as well as the update (1.2) as the latest version (1.20) doesn't require the d3drm.dll file. However for your own personal convienance if you bought the box in place of the electronic version then you will be 100000 times happier if you place that little file in the folder as I directed in my older post (thanks ed for reposting it here) . If you cannot find a copy of the dll then I will gladly email you one in .zip format
BS~
