Well like an age ago, you guys helped me make a decent gaming rig. But now its time to upgrade >_>

I have been planning to buy a geforce 9800 GTX however i have just found out "apparently" i need a pci express 2.0 thingy.

This is the motherboard i have at the moment:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/129125

Will it work >_> or will i have to fork out for another motherboard aswell.

Oh, and whats all this about the geforce 200 series, any better than the 9 series?
Thx ^_^

"Yep" just doesn't seem like a full response.

The 200 series is the successor to the 9 series. It seems the P35 chipset (which that motherboard uses) doesn't support 2.0 as it was released before 2.0 was finalised (though Intel claimed it would support it - most users seem to claim it doesn't). However it does support 1.1 and 2.0 cards are backwards compatible with 1.1. So best I can gather is yes that graphics card will work with your motherboard, however it may not be able to run at full speed.

Alucard94, is the 94 in your name your birth year? It's just that you seem to come out with mocking insults in every thread you post in.

Some information on PCIe 2.0.

it'll run at full speed, but I think it just won't support the new fancy stuff that's not in any games as of yet. I wouldn't hesitate on that fact alone. I'd get the card.

I've always thought that Alucard was a nice user and kind of funny. I'm not sure I've seen a post from him like that one before. What happened Alucard?

That comment wasn't meant to be mocking or even offensive, just having a bit of fun And sorry if I insulted anyone or anything with it, be sure, it wasn't my intention =)
EDIT:
And for me posting "mocking" comments in threads today, I never thought of them as mocking, but hey, if they were, I'm sorry again to anyone who took offense to it.
Although to be honest I've had a pretty bad day but I'm trying to keep that out of my other every day life.

I was making that assumption on the fact that PCI Express 2.0 doubled the bandwidth, ergo a PCI Express 1.x port can only get half the through-put of a 2.0 port. However you could be right. It certainly wouldn't run any slower than a PCI Express 1.x card, so I would go for it.

half of this thread has become a troll battle lol >_<

Anyway guys, thanks for the help. I will get the card and then think about upgrading the mobo anyways, if its not 2.0 then it must be making some sort of cut on preformance or another aspect. The only thing i could compare it to is that little rant my old pc used to have when i stuck usb pens into a port that wasnt "2.0"

Oh, and by the way, that wasn't a sexual inuendo.

Lol >_<

I have recently purchased a 9800 GTX and installed it into a mobo with only 1.1 support, it works just fine. Just make sure your psu has enough 6 pin power plugs, as my 6-month old PSU only had one and I ended up having to wait for an adapter after I already got the card.

And these words which I command you today shall be on your heart.
