Uhm I'll just say I am hopeless with these confusing, frustrating, overly-complicated (I'll stop there, I'm just a humble coder =P)
3d programs. My modeller friend is away and I need to import a .X model into milkshape or C4D so I can move the axis a little. I can't figure out how to do it (someone shoot me =P) and I'd appreciate a little help hehe.

Try JTEdit from http://www.jtgame.com/jtedit, a low-poly 3D editor. It natively reads and writes .x files. (I wrote the MilkShape .x exporter, and which was also the basis for the CharacterFX .x exporter. I never got around to writing an importer since I now have JTEdit.)

hey... just thought of a feature for JTEdit ... 3D Widget/Gizmos, they make using proggies like Max/Maya/Softimage a dream

(i know wrong post but hey when you think of something best to write it down before you forget )
if you want to fixx the pivot point in an object then you could always have a look over the Dx format, it is fairly simple - and a moderate coder could probably whip up an axis editor within an hr or two in DBP.

To Import .x into milkshape - Do the following

1. Tools > Direct X Mesh Tools
2. Click the Open Folder button
3. Find your model - Click OPEN
4. Click the button with the disk on it
5. Right click on a viewport and say FRAME ALL

Repeat step 5 for each viewport - as most exported .x models are tiny

Cheers
