Also, his location tells us his exact coordinates! Let's go steal it!

Oh, if you are looking to get rid of all that money though, I am in desperate need of a new car or at least the cash to repair my current one.

Worth it, believe me.

You mean you'd rather have spare money laying around than using it to enhance your lifestyle? An interesting idea, but most people want to improve their lives with money.

Quote: "or just save it for a rainy day"

Rainy days suck for driving. The amount of suck is directly proportional to how badly it's raining. Unless you're assuming there's a place within walking distance where he could spend money, in which case my driving logic is shot.

I'm a long-time friend of Omega Gamer 89. If I may be permitted to give my input:

Quote: "I sense parental indoctrination"

Not really, I think. He disagrees with his mom on a lot of basic stuff. I do a lot better with my mother than he does with his. BTW, I'm 18 and he's 19, and neither of us have the resources to move out of our homes yet.

Quote: "or else this Omega Gamer is wise beyond his years"

I wouldn't call it this, either. For example, while playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl, rather than admit that he can and does make mistakes, he's happier to believe that the game cheated him somehow. No matter how much I try to explain what happened (with the only restrictions on my argument being the game mechanics (both possible and known) and the end result of what happened), he and I get into rather large arguments pretty regularly. My argument attempts to explain how we got to where we are (the real end result) in terms of what we know of the game, and his argument consists of what moves he wished to make and what he believed the end-result would be from that (which is not always accurate, even given the moves he wanted to make). Again, basic stuff that he seems to have a lot of trouble with.

Quote: "Or possibly... he IS a parent!"

Definitely not. Neither of us is.

---

That's my input on these possibilities. Sorry if this post looks like it's trolling at all, but this is my honest opinion on someone that I really know in person, and have for about at least a decade.

I think Omega's either being contradictory for the sake of being contradictory (just saying "save it" when everyone else is saying to buy something) or he's throwing out something that's just another idea, no matter how seriously it may or may not be considered.

... But why did you feel the need to contradict him when his argument was perfectly valid. You sounded really aggressive.

But then, talking in text does that. Why are emotions so hard to convey in text?

@ Geryon:
Quote: "You mean you'd rather have spare money laying around than using it to enhance your lifestyle?"

using money to enhance your lifestyle is great, but if he doesn't have any idea on what to buy, (And is thusly asking us) then he should save it. If he KNEW what to spend it on, then by all means, he should buy it. But he doesn't know, so he should probably save it. (IMO)
Quote: "Rainy days suck for driving. The amount of suck is directly proportional to how badly it's raining. Unless you're assuming there's a place within walking distance where he could spend money, in which case my driving logic is shot."

I'm guessing that was sarcasm, although its hard to tell from text.
You know perfectly well that I meant "rainy day" as in "an emergency". Have you honestly never heard that expression used before? It means to put the money away, and save it for when you really need it.

@ Agent Dink: As Geryon said, no, I am not a parent. Although I do like to consider myself a little wiser than average. (By wise, I mean common sense. Not book knowledge, although I'm not exactly lacking there, either.)

@ Geryon's second post:
Although I do disagree with my mom on many things, Its not as bad as you made it sound. (again, the effects of text instead of a voice.) And I don't think you do so much better with your mom. Thats not to say you do badly, just not A LOT better than me. I get along with my mother much better than I used to, ever since I learned to accept that she thinks she right just because she's my mother. (Honestly, she still uses the "Because I said so." reasoning. That may work on an 8 year old. Not on an adult though.)

Quote: "wouldn't call it this, either. For example, while playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl, rather than admit that he can and does make mistakes, he's happier to believe that the game cheated him somehow. Again, basic stuff that he seems to have a lot of trouble with."

Now that is just an outright lie. I DO admit that I can and do make mistakes. I am only human, and am therefore imperfect. I have not claimed that a game "Cheated" in years. Yes, you TRY to explain what happened, but your explanation usually makes no sense. In fact, your argument usually doesn't take the actual events of the game into account. For example: If you had just jumped up used a down smash on me, and I flew off way too fast for the amount of damage I had, you might say that you had side smashed me from the ground. (This is just an example. Things similar to this DO happen often though.) It's like you are watching a different screen than me sometimes.
MY argument takes into account what I know about the game, what I instructed the character to do with my controller, and what the character(s) did.
You have actually said, on more than one occasion,, and I quote:
Quote: "Dude?! WTF?! you don't beat me! It just doesn't happen! you are not supposed to beat me."

Those were your exact words one day when I beat you.

I am NOT trying to flame you, just stating my counter argument.I am not angry about anything, nor am I offended by your post. Just throwing that out there, since it is hard to tell emotion from text.

Quote: "I think Omega's either being contradictory for the sake of being contradictory (just saying "save it" when everyone else is saying to buy something) or he's throwing out something that's just another idea, no matter how seriously it may or may not be considered."

I am throwing out the idea of "save it" because it is the most logical and intelligent thing to do. While most people said "Give it to me! lol." I actually gave helpful advice. (No offense to those who said "Give it to me")

I am NOT trying to hijack this topic, I was just responding to a post by another user.

What you don't seem to understand is that the people saying "Give it to me" are OBVIOUSLY joking, there is no point in getting upset by a harmless joke, and most people should know that, and yes you did give helpful advice but from the topic it self it sounds like he wants to spend the money, if he wanted to save it he obviously would, it's just that this topic asks people for what he should spend it on, not if he should spend it or not. So really, people had a reason for reacting the way they did. And don't take this as angry comments or anything (Again, as you said, the effect of text instead of speech) I am just pointing this out, and I do agree that the advice you gave was very correct.

Quote: "I'm guessing that was sarcasm, although its hard to tell from text."

Yeah I think he was joking in that post, as everyone should know what that expression means, so no real reason to argue that.

Quote: "using money to enhance your lifestyle is great, but if he doesn't have any idea on what to buy, (And is thusly asking us) then he should save it. If he KNEW what to spend it on, then by all means, he should buy it. But he doesn't know, so he should probably save it. (IMO)"

Well this depends, if he has no reason to save the money and already have plenty of money saved in a bank account or under the bed or whatever, he might as well just go out and spend the cash on something fun, as that feeling when you have some money and have the freedom to spend it on whatever you want is a very pleasant feeling hehe, I should know, I seem to have spare cash lying around everywhere .

And to answer the original poster, I would suggest just going online and search for something that's in your price range that you would want and then get it, or heck, just buy some tutorial DVD's or something (Depends on how much cash you have obviously).

Nah, the stupid internetz are just serious business. I had no way to tell that your post wasn't serious. I err on the side of seriousness rather than sarcasm when I read a post.

Quote: "You know perfectly well that I meant "rainy day" as in "an emergency"."

Except for the part where I've never, ever seen or heard "rainy day" used in place of "emergency", yes.

Quote: "MY argument takes into account what I know about the game, what I instructed the character to do with my controller, and what the character(s) did."

I know I've hit wrong buttons and/or directions before. Sometimes, I even screw up a recovery because of it (for example, mis-aiming Farore's Wind). But I accept this mistake of my manipulation of the controller, while you seem to believe that you have perfect control over your character and never press the wrong button or direction by accident. And given how ridiculously better than you I am at Smash, you can't be immune to the same error. That's why I said "moves you wanted to make". If I want to do Ike's side-special and I mistakenly perform his up-special, I don't call it a glitch like you would if you accidentally launched Pikachu's quick attack in the wrong direction.

---

Sorry to have slightly hijacked the thread, people! I didn't mean to. Really. Yea, I may have trolled Omega a little (as my honest opinions tend to), and I'm sorry. I'm gonna try as hard as I can to let it die. This argument may continue in the real world, but this thread certainly doesn't deserve to be our battleground.

Terribly sorry, fellow users.

i sense a kid trying to show off the fact he's being spoilt. seriously, when you're 5, you think 50p is a lot and you wanna brag about it to your friends, at 7 it's £3, at 11 yrs old its £10... judging by this guys savings of $250, which is around £125, im guessing hes around 13?

i hope whatever you do with it, you don't waste it, in just a few more years you'll be needing a lot more than a measly $250 to get by...

Very Punk. But I class my dressing sense alittle more heavy metal. That is of-course Iron Maiden T-shirt with a denim jacket, and maybe jeans, I don't like being placed into Stereotypes. So I try to be as neutral as possible.

And dressed like that, that may very well be all you'll end up doing with your life. Just make sure you never take it too far. Always have a hairstyle you can clean up, make sure you don't tattoo anything you can't cover up with normal business clothes, don't go overboard with the piercing.
Stuff like that.

Wise words to consider. Not talking down your style or anything, just don't let it ruin your future, cause it doesn't really help in our world. There's still too many people who can't accept these things.

$45 to stick a pin through someone's skin? Goodness me, forget a career in the game development industry. Even if that is only about £20, do it 40 times a day and you've made £800!

My brother is a body piercer. He makes a pretty penny, but there is a good bit of overhead. He has to make sure his environment is very sterile along wtih any tools he uses. It's very much a surgical procedure to him. I'm quite proud that he's probably one of the best piercers around =]

That's still a lot of cash for something that is hardly better than the Gimp or old Paint Shop Pro versions released for free.

Besides, doesn't $200 roughly equal £100?

ASUSTek Eee PC 701 4G Black - Celeron M @630mHz - 512Mb RAM - 32Mb Shared Intel GMA 900 - Windows XP Home SP1 - No antivirus/firewall.
And it still boots quicker than any other laptop I've seen.
