Hey guys/gals,

Firstly, let me say I am LOVING DBPro, great job.

Secondly, I have read through the help files, but I can't seem to figure out how to work out how many files there are in a directory.

Could anyone hand me some pointers?

Thanks,

Jamie

PERFORM CHECKLIST FOR FILES

CHECKLIST QUANTITY <-- that one will tell you how many files are in the directory*. Use it after PERFORM CHECKLIST FOR FILES.

*Please note that in order to change the directory, you will need to use SET DIR before any of the above commands.

Also, on a side note, please try not to double post. When you first join the forum, your posts need to be verified by TGC to see if they're suitable for the forum. This means that they may not appear for a while. Just be patient-- they will appear. No need to post again .

Anyway, good luck I'm glad you're enjoying DBP.

Thanks!

Oh, and I only double posted because I didn't see that message...

Thanks again!

Ah, didn't see the double post. If you have more than 256 files/directories in the current directory, then checklists won't help you as they are limited to 256 entries. Check your other post for a more general solution.

I'm still trying to figure out what all you people keep talking about as I've never had that issue and have managed to return several thousand entries in the checklist.

Really? I thought checklists were limited to 256 entries - has that restriction been relaxed at some point?

Not sure, but in the last DBC challenge I used it and returned the contents of a folder with over 2k files. If you have DBC you can try my entry: http://dbcc.zimnox.com/showcode.php?entry=170

The DBPro help files say
Quote: "The checklist has a maximum storage capacity of 255 items"
however, I've actually run the command in my system32 folder and had over 2700 entries.

Looks like the help files and I were wrong, which is nice
