Resistance: Fall Of Man (FPS)
Burnout Paradise (Open-world racing)
Oblivion (even though I have it for 360, but meh) (RPG)
BioShock (Same, got it for 360) (Horror FPS)
Call Of Duty 4 (FPS)
Heavenly Sword (Dunno, maybe an Action/adventure?)
If you like kid-ish games then: Ratchet And Clank: Tools Of Destruction (Action/Adventure)

I would say it's more an action game, as the puzzle elements were very, very simple. Think Gears of War but as if you're watching a movie, with sweeping cameras, dramatic acting, and jungle--- lots of jungle. I recommend it!

I am also enjoying Siren, which for now is a PSN download (about 10GBs though, so it takes a while).

Uncharted (adventure/shooter), Ratchet and Clank (platformer/shooter) and MGS4 (stealth/shooter).
(Sense a theme with the shooters? )

Ratchet and Clank is cartoony, but that doesn't necessarily make it a kids game... My kid sister has no idea what the heck shes doing, although she's already at the asteroid belt...

It's a fairly generic landscape for the series. Since the "levels" are individual planets, that doesn't give away how far through the game she is. In fact, she has a long ways to go at this rate.

Grand Theft Auto IV is killer... extremely fun, and multiplayer GTA is awesome. Just thought I'd throw that in

That sounded just...wrong. Siren is my sister.

Even though I have no PS3 or have ever touched one, I would recommend Metal Gear Solid 4. I've tried the predecessors and they were quite fun and well made overall.

Seriously, if you're into racing games, get Burnout Paradise. Or if you're into shooters, get either CoD4, BioShock or Resitance: Fall Of Man or wait till Resistance 2 comes out.

If you can hang on a little while "Assassin's Creed" will be in the Platinum range on 8th September so you should be able to pick it up for around £17 (UK) brand new.
If you are interested in other release dates for the PS3 I have recently put quite a few on my blog here:

I also had an issue with Oblivion and Mass Effect on my 360. Constant "Disk read errors" just made me cease playing.
Although Oblivion is a very good game.

I don't have a PS3 but you have to check out MGS4, Uncharted, Rachet & Clank Future, Resistance, Folklore, and save money for Little Big Planet.

Oh and you should avoid Haze...

Not Mass Effect, I'm fine with that, but it''s whenever I loot an imperial Guard or a Crate etc it take 2 minutes or so to load. After 5 loots or something, the whole game goes "[whatever curse word you wish, as long as it begins with 's' or 'f'] all

I loved Oblivion, it works great on my mate's 360, but not mine now it just pees me off.

i played MGS4 and got a bit suprised with the varius quality of gfx effects as the static objects and large buildings had very low res shadows.
with large chunky pixelated edges.
but the rest was really top notch stuff.
but i only tested and viewed the city street level with the large droids.
as it was an friend that have msg4 and the ps3.
cheers

If you are living in Europe you know we have different release dates than in the US. I usually go here for reference on the release dates: http://www.eurogamer.net/releases.php

Games listed in bold font are hot topics that you may or may not take interest in.

I visit this website frequently when I want to find out when a game I want is going to come out. But sometimes it just says TBA which is unbearable to read

Anyway personally I've only played PS3 one time and the games I tried where rather good: Skate (skateboard simulation), COD4 (shooter), Vegas2 (tactical shooter).

Skate is my all time favorite game on the xbox360 so if you are into that kind of sport I suggest you buy that game for the ps3!

I allways afraided from a clowns. aww..
