I can't find good ones. So, anyone know of one? I don't mean MMO's. I hate MMO's. I mean good single-player RPG's, preferably Final Fantasy style.

Well, there's one called illusion of the tower I think, but it's a 18+ because, well, uh... it contained 18+ content.

I`m posotive there's more, try checking in the work's in progress area of the forums.

I can't find any either. But if you don't mind bending the loop
holed law of copy right: then you could find yourself a good snes emulator and start looking for old Japanese RPG's that have recently received fan translation patches: such as Mario RPG and Dragon quest 5 & 6.

Hope that helps.

I beat Dragon Warrior at 8, and have almost beaten DW II. I've also beaten much of SMRPG. I love all three. I've played many SNES and NES RPG's, actually. I just recently bought the FFIV remake for DS.

But, I've yet to find any Indie RPG's with good class systems. v.v

BEST retro RPG EVAR:
Phantasy star IV for the Sega Genesis.
You can (as Ark 48K said) emulate it, or get for PSP in the Sega hits collection.

Ignore the user rating, they are idiots who don't know what they are talking about. The game is amazing, however the first two levels are very very hard (I'm guessing they didn't play more than those) and after that it becomes easier and open ended. You have to collect elements and essence and create spells and whatnot. Very fun (after those first couple levels).

Yes, the easter egg, but there was a child freindly-er version.

Erm, Illusion of the Tower isn't an rpg, the only only thing that can be leveled up is to switch around and buy gun/sword parts (which is awesome). And Soul Hunter is an action adventure, not RPG. Actually, I think they both are.

Giesha House is an RPG, and Evochron Renegades is a space sim, but has plenty of rpg elements. Oh, and Roxas is making a FF type rpg engine.

Outside of DBpro going off game tunnel:
Mount and Blade
That Penny Arcade one
And here are a bunch more: http://www.gametunnel.com/review_nav.php?gen_p=6

Try the Avernum and Geneforge games from http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/... I love these games...

FastCrawl is good it's an RPG action game which can be played in as little as 30 minutes... It randomly generates your party, dungeon, story etc... It's pretty good for a quick rpg fix or while you wait for downloads to complete

Mount & Blade which isn't really an RPG (i suppose technically it is, but it's not the sort of game I think about when I think RPG) but is definitely my favourite Indie Game...

Download the RPG Maker XP or VX RTP and maybe you'll find some gems amongst the garbage of RPG Maker games because trust me, there are some fantastic ones out there. Just hard to find.

Some of these look good. None the style I'm looking for. Oh well. Classic Final Fantasy it is.

They're NOT hard to find, if you're a member of that forum which I for the life of me can't remember the name of (Last time I was there was 2 years ago) and it's pretty easy to find the amazing ones.

If you're sick of fantasy-based RPGs (like me), try Mr. Robot. It's pretty good for a sci-fi RPG, and available on GameTap if you have a subscription.

I checked out Q-Gears site. Dude. If he can accomplish that, and accomplish it well, my friend will likely find where Q-Gears lives, go there and Hug him to death, if not bow down and worship him. He has always loved FF7, and is always playing it on his EPSXE Emu. Although, he may not be AS happy because he has the ROM. But really, he loves FF7 so much, he borrowed my disc, tried to play it on the Emu, (Because the ROM was taking over a week to download) and the disc shattered in his drive.

Holy crap, I just tried mount&blade. Other than being very laggy, I love it. I have yet to get used to the frame rate of 5 though...

I just bought it. So... obsessed. It is incredible, thanks for pointing it out. And it lags like crazy for me, but I am trying to get used to it.

Have you tried reducing the number of corpses and the number of rag dolls from the in game options?

On the video options screen it gives you an "estimated performance" rating in percent... so you can see how your performance may improve as you change the options... pretty handy

I have everything all the way low. No bodies, no ragdoll. However it doesn't lag as much now that I reduced the color depth to 16 and the resolution to 640 by 480. But I am addicted to the game nonetheless.

Which Ultima do you recommend I try first? (Don't be afraid to recommend a NES version; I was raised on Dragon Warrior. )

I have only played a few. And with my experience, I like Ultima 5 and 6. Ultima Underworld is quite nice too.

@Omega gamer 89 - ROM? FF7? dont u mean ISO - an iso is a disk image - image of a disk , replica of the disk but as a file that can be mounted on a virtual drive. + side of disk images - your games never get scratched, leaves ur disk dirve free.
