The ceremony was so amazing the sheer scale of everything was mind blowing. For the opener they took to countries most prestigious director and gave him basically unlimited funds.

The drums were my favorite with the people in boxes as my second.

Also that little kid who saved his two classmates is an amazing kid.

XD !

I thought the part where the people in boxes moved up and down to make shapes was awesome! It must've taken them years to get that good!

I liked the drums the best. The choreography that must have taken...

Now, how are we going to match this in 2012?

With the world ending of curse!

On topic, I'm one of those arrogant buttholes who just ignores the olympics all together, although I barely even watch any TV any more.

I hardly ever watch the Olympics, but then, I rarely watch ANY sports on TV... Except when the steelers get to the super bowl!

Hey Omega, remember the year when Steelers went to the superbowl ('94 I think) and then LOST to Dallas? I sure remember watching my team beat my dads!

I was only 5 years old in '94, soooo... No, I don't remember that. I was referring to the more recent superbowl XL. When we beat the Seahawks 21-10.

I'm not sure what gets more impressive than what was displayed yesterday. Care to elaborate Jeku?

I have been watching the olympics all day long today. They have really changed the rules in Vollyball and Handball this year.

The main show wasn't that good, just a show of power... and how many people they have. The fireworks were extremely impressive.

Its was AMAZING! The fireworks footprints walking towards the stadium was awesome, I loved it how when the guy was lighting the torch he was running across the walls of the whole stadium, it started at 12:08 am over here and it was totally mind blowing.

The opening ceremony of Beijing was amazing, who thought that the guy running towards the torch was excellant. Pretty funny as he went up, I was going "The torch is out"lol.

Just watched a part of it just this moment when I was jogging on my treadmill thingy, and Sweden broke its record in Swimming (I think, I have no check on those things) so yeah, YAY FOR SWEDEN.
On the other hand though Sweden sucks at all other damn sports

@ Deathead: Argh! That's the one. That 'thing' cost £400,000.

Now the Beijing 2008 logo (The chinese symbol/dancing figure) looks much nicer.

I guess it's just a little worse than this one:

Then again, not nearly as many people care about the Winter Olympics.

I wonder why the logos are so terrible?

Do you think they just call it a 'competition' to design a logo and the prize is 'the honour of having your logo in the Olympics', with professioanl illustrators payment in 'honour' obviously doesn't work.

Though it'd be pretty cool to have honour as currency.

Actually didn't they ask primary school kids to make logos for the 2012 olympics?

If I remember correctly, yes. Anyway, what was the actual prize? I'm sure it couldn't have been just honour as my previous post suggests. Personally I think Jerico should have entered with his - shame he's in the US.

Fear not, it was submitted and was accepted as an entrant.
