Could we please fix the search, so it does something other than search titles.

Instead of just locking pointless threads, how about we delete them so that when we are search later, we are not wading through that as well.

that's what the google search is for isn't it....?

edit: and not all locked threads are pointless, some start off well and just end up badly and are worth finding in a search/

just be glad you can't get at the "team requests" board any more

He said pointless threads, not threads that get derailed.

And I agree that the forum search is amazingly useless, it's so bad that it's truly amazing. An no, the google search isn't useful at all for searching a forum, very often I wish to search for a topic where I know the poster's name(or part of the topic title) and one or two words from the post and any decent forum would have a very extensive advanced search ability where I can easily find this post. However a title search where all the words must match and be in the right order is just useless, and not to mention as soon as it hits over 100 results it bombs out with an error, why doesn't it just display 100 results? Or at best 100 per page.

But there are many issues with the forum that will never be fixed so meh.

/me still waits for the upgrade to PHPBB.

Oh no, I'd have to slap Rich if he used PHPBB. You have any idea how many bots would be hitting the forums? Apollo is probably more secure.

More secure, yes, but the search sucks.

By default maybe, slap on e-mail account validation and 99% of bots are out the window, and I'm sure there's a similar post approval status feature add-on.

I'd hate to have post deleting. All that wonderful (and hilarious) history of these forums is preserved in locked threads.

@deathhead. We realize this. We know it only searches this forum, but then again maybe you have never used any other forum software than this, so I will give you a break.

The search system for this site is a joke, and it makes it ridiculous to yell at newbies (which I see all of the time) to search.
