how many chars can hold a string?

I tought it was 255, but I'm not sure, wait a sec, i'm looking.

Yeah I was right, I made a little test program. And when the string reached 256 it gave an error.

Put them in an array. (See DB docs.)

i can't use arrays because i've to do string manipulation...
i'm trying to use memblocks...

If you have dbpro it will handle a 5000 charecter string. The length is proberly dependant on memory.
