I just installed a DarkBasic Pro CD that I've owned for about a year, but never used, because of various excuses (The brain-dead color scheme being one). But now I have a project in mind, so I installed it, with also a copy of (thank the imaginary deity) the Synergy IDE.

Went through the online registration process, supposedly upgrading to ver 6.9 (?). And now I want to but the eXtends package, for the text handling and "real"-time skybox features.

Problem: my "About" dialog says I now am the proud owner, er, user, of DarkBasic Pro ver 1.068, and the eXtends package website blurb says I must be using ver 6.0+ to make use of that package.

So which is it -- 1.068, or 6.9? I'm not ready to blow even $31.99 (yes, I'm a colonial!) on a package I can't use, nor am I ready to blow the price of a new DarkBasic Pro CD.

6.0+ refers to 1.060+ and 6.9 refers to 1.069

So to use eXtends u need 1.060+ so it should be safe to use either 6.8 or 6.9.

And the eXtends plugin is only partly working under vista, EXEs using the XFont or XGui system will only run under Win95 compatibility mode... although i havent tested that, i will wait until Freddix fixed it. I think you should wait with buying too if you need the Font-system...

Running XP (why mess with success?). Not really writing a game, as most would call it, more text-heavy. I'd LIKE a robust and fast text and font system. I'm still in the wee toddler stages of learning the DarkBasic lang (used Basic before, but only simple C for a while now), so I think I'll buy eXtends when I get the simples done, and rely on (Freddix, is it?) for upgrades when he/she gets around to it.
