Can anybody please tell me how to properly attach a lift to a corridor? I tried connecting the lift to the end of the corridor and "picking" the corridor and using the "paint walls" tool to fill in the gaps but all that did is replace the lift with another corridor segment.

You should use the corridor end piece. All the corridor types have a section that is called something to the effect of "corridor end". Use this piece making sure to have the solid wall facing the lift section. Then place the lift as you normally do. Add your door to the wall of the corridor and you will have your lift attached to your corridor.

You know your code sucks when it does what you want before you know what you want.
