yust got my hands on an nintendo wii and bought mario kart and boom blox to go with it.
mario kart do i have to say more than no kart game can rival it
boom blox is also one of the most fun puzzle games i have played
so i cant understand alot of the critics about it.
as crappy games yes they are there with ps2 grafix as the developers are to cheap to put more time to it.
now can i yust not wait until conduit gets out so that i can blast an decent shooter on my new wii.
cheers

ps and yes wii sports sucks but virtual console rocks with all from 8 bit nintendo to 16 bit and megadrive and genesis and n64 and neogeo game and alot more.

I agree about Boom Blox--- it's probably my favourite Wii game apart from Mario Galaxy. A true original gem!

have you guys looked at the conduit vids ?
finally there seams to be an developer outside nintendo that makes an fps for wii only and not an converted ps2 game with some wii controls added.
as its sickening to se the lazy ness of to many developers out there.
conduit vids.
http://www.gametrailers.com/game/8720.html

and as the conduit developers state the wii aint that weak as many developers want us to think with there bad conversions of ps2 games.
i read somewhere that the wii is double the performance then the gamecube so why do they trye to sell uss crappy conversions of ps2 games.

Money and time. Which, in the world of game designers, are fairly equivalent. The Wii definitely has potential, but with so many casual games made for it, developers don't find it worth it to really push it to its limits.

Ya, the developers know that with all the little kids that have Wii's, pretty much any game they put out there will sell fine. My little brother has bought sooo many crappy Wii/GC games because they "looked cool" to him. Anyways, congrats on getting your Wii, it's a great console if you know what games to get.

90% of statistics are completely inaccurate.

That's the reason I held out on a DS for so long. But, now that Square Enix is making good games for it, I jump right on board. They know how to push a consoles hardware to the limits, even one as relatively weak as the DS.

I got a Wii last week. I'm not into consoles, I like my PC too much to upset it with a love rival. But the Wii is awesome, best buy I ever made.

I disagree about Wii Sports - there are plenty of advanced moves to keep you busy improving. I got Carnival as part of the deal which is also good family fun.

Looking at Olympics and a dedicated Tennis game to add to it now.

My friends and I have had many hours of fun with Mario & Sonic at the Olympics...

I love my Wii, I only had a PS2 in the last generation of consoles and now I have been picking up GC games super cheap and enjoying the things I missed last generation...

I've also been enjoying No More Heroes but that definitely isn't family friendly fun

EDIT
And Bloom Blox is definitely an excellent game...

I have traded Game Party which I got as part of the original package, and is quite possibly the worst ever compilation. I got Mario/Sonic Olympics which is pretty good.

Checked out Boom Blox - £40, the most expensive Wii game by a long way!!!

but my new gem is mohh2
and that is completely the multiplayer aspect as it is great and a whole lot of people online
its 3 games in one fps ,rail shooter and glorius mp.
as an fps to shoort and arcade rail shooter fun and mp great.
and they both cost only 15 £ each nowdays so they are well worth the money now.
cheers

ps

thats fun to hear jeku
yes i noticed that when going online to test it the aviable servers and people yust amazed me for an wii game online.
as i thought it wasent that good online console but have learned its really capable as one.
and mohh2 supports 32 players at the same time and that is really good i belive for an wii game?
its really amazing that an console that is soooo much less in power is selling so much better then both ps3 and 360.
but i cant put the finger on it but nintendo have some magic as i love it anyway
i had the old xbox before the wii so i was close to buy an 360 but happy i didt
cheers

ps
its also fun to see that developers now are converting some of there larger 360 and ps3 games also to wii.
like dead rising that seams great
http://www.gametrailers.com/game/10156.html

also found this and it seams cool as hell
its wii exclusive .

The Wii is a lot of fun. Haven't picked up a copy of Boom Blox yet, will have to get it at some point.

They should have used the Mii system in the Wii version of Dead Rising. How awesome would it be to mow down thousands of zombified Miis? Hmmm, Mii Rising - I can think of a few people whose Miis I wouldn't mind taking a katana to.

yes batvink as nintendo have always gone there own way thats why they are so against dropping the price of wii as they now have an block buster after the n64 and game cube that actually didt sell that well.(they nead the money)
wath i have read was an bomb shell to nintendo that was used to be the big boss with the nes 8 bit and the famicom (snes 16 bit).
if we all remember when the talk started about the 360 and ps3 and wii.
nobody belived in the wii because of the specs compared to the other 2.
all the talk was about wich one of 360 and ps3 would win the battle.
but no one could belive the genious controls would make it sell toons of hardware.
and the fun part is most 360 or ps3 owner could think of having an wii to with there consol.
but not the other way as they are to much the same.
cheers

I bought a Wii, it's my favorite console, but there were a few games I wanted badly so I bought a 360, I feel like it kind of wasn't worth it but now I can buy some more games like the orange box and if my comp can't run it spore.

I bought a 360 mainly for GTA4, which is pretty fun. Wii is still, and will be until next generation, my favorite console.

if you already spent the money so keep it
and yes iam also thinking of maybe having an 360 or ps3 to.
but my love goes to wii
specially the fps controls as it seams so much less now when playing on my brothers 360 or on my computer as the controls on wii gives the extra touch of feeling.
hard to explain?
if you havent played an good fps on the wii as it have to be experienced
cheers

ps and i completely agree with you ralphy about dead rising with some miis

Lol same here!

Yes I know what you mean about fps controls, I have Metroid and Mohh2, and they are both fantastic with controls, the literally make up for the less graphical quality and then some, it's just so much better than a control stick or mouse(only by a bit for mouse though).

I can't wait for the conduit, it looks so customizable, you can even change the hud!

Metroid Prime 3 is in my opinion, the only awesome FPS on the wii at the moment, all the other ones sucked... (Although Red Steel was fun with the controls I've gotta admit. Even though most people hated it) MP3 is such a awesome graphical marble piece from an art (not tech) stand point, the game looks incredible, and to add to that, it plays and feels incredible and is in general an awesome game.

A little repetitive at times sure, but still a great game none the less.

i have only tryed mohh2 and call of duty 3 as an fps on the wii yet.
but mohh2 is really good if you think of it that its 3 games in one,as its a bit short as an standalone fps.
but then call of duty is yust as good as its counter parts on the other formats.
the only thing is that the wii version got ps2 grafix and it have no mp.
mohh2 vids
http://www.gametrailers.com/game/5452.html
call of duty 3 vids
http://www.gametrailers.com/game/3234.html
i recomend them both.
as i know you are swedish alucard so does ginza sell mohh2 for 259 kr and spelbutiken sells call of duty for 169 kr

Hmmm? My wife has been thinking about us getting a Wii. I think this thread clinches it. Although, there are some games I don't think she will like.

I bet our 4 y/o Grandson will love Mario/Sonic Olympics. He especially likes sonic.

BTW, Cliff, I love your accent.

Strange, I can't imagine the control system being great for an FPS.

Quote: "I bet our 4 y/o Grandson will love Mario/Sonic Olympics. He especially likes sonic."

Some games are OK - running and swimming. But most of them are tougher, with strange key combinations (javelin needs shaking to run, followed by B while you drop your hand, finally pressing A as you throw - but not too hard or you fail).

Wii Sports - the one that comes with the console - is great for my four year old. She can play tennis, hit a few baseballs, and beat everyone in the house at bowling. The symbols are also consistent so she can work out how to get through the menus.

Carnival is also good for younger players, there are a lot of games that rely on movement rather than button-pressing.

My Wii is gathering dust... All I think I'll be getting for it as the year closes is Dead Rising and Boom Blox. Nintendo needs to reintroduce the seal of quality. Then maybe we'll start to see some better games.

But I will get the Conduit. Nice to see an original third party game that actually looks good.

EDIT
I'd also just like to say that Dead Rising will be good on Wii, but will be blown away by the original if only because the Wii's version removes the large variety of weapons and has a heavier focus on guns.

batvink its the conversion from gamepad to the wii controls that is a bit bugged out in the beginning.
i thought the controls sucked for an hour of gameplay in call of duty.
but then when i started to get used to them so does gamepad seam a bit lame.
the fps controls work as that you have an zone in centre that is an default look zone and when you move the crosshair outside the zone the player starts turning.
and the turning speed is determend on how far to the side you move the cross hair.
i can state that i the first hour did i look like an mad psychotic squirrel rushing in cod3
it was until you learn that its only neads small movements
and its freaking coll but you build upp an sweat like when you fight with the german and you have to like wii boxing move both controls to punch out the german
the aiming in mp is awesome when you get used to them.
and its so freking childish cool when you hear the cocking sound from the weapon in your controls when reloading + vibration.
i can only say batvink give it an learning hour and you will love them.

thanks flatlander

yes Cian Rice
i have understand that the wii version will have alot new enemys and a bit differrent gameplay.
so i belive the ps3 and 360 versions towards the wii version will be a bit differrent experience ?
and yes a bit lower gfx specs

and i yust want to say get an compnent cable at once you buy the wii the picture quality is yust so enormus if you have an lcd or plasma tv.
so that yo then can set the highest display on your wii.
cheers

It's a great game. I was thinking of telling my brother to get it to, and decided my parents might not approve of it.

I'm looking at getting Zak and Wiki, as well as the Conduit when it comes out. Oh, and maybe De Blob. It looks interesting and IGN is all goggly-eyed over it.

Zak and Wiki is great--- I played through it when it first came out and was very impressed. It's a shame they marketed it completely wrong and gave it a title that makes it sound like a kiddie game, when really it is very tough in parts.

i have now tested zak and wicki and must say that jeku is right its an really great game and an must buy like boom blox
i know it have sold very well and is well liked in sweden
iam yust hopping they make it in to an series of games like zelda.
the grafix are yust out lovely and marvelous.
i must say i belive i have made some good buys that will keep me buzy now that my girlfriend have forbidden me to buy more games
zak and wicki seams to be an game both boys and girls like and old boys like me
cheers

ps
must say that the controls of call of duty 3 is not that good when compared to the fps controls in medal of honour heroes 2.
they are much smoother.
have looked around alot here in sweden as i want the first medal of honour game that came out for the wii called vanguard.
it got bad critics but i want to get my own point of view on it as i love ww2 games.
but its very rare and high priced even as second hand.
cheapest reseller sells it for 50£
but will continou to look around
have any one played alien syndrome for the wii as i love arcade games to?
it does hardly sell anything here in sweden so yust wondering as its cheap but dont want an crappy game

It is a shame as is it an amazing puzzle game... Some of the levels in the game had me scratching my head... I think the painting level is one of the best levels I've played in any game, ever!

That's another title I need to pickup. Thanks for reminding me. (I'm talking about Z&Dubs)

But yeah Dead Rising Chop 'Till You Drop will be a different experience. Which is why I'm going to buy both versions. (I've only borrowed my friends and played for extensive hours of the original)...

Why do you keep saying yust? Should be "just".

Anyways, Overlord on the Wii would be pretty good. I enjoyed that game for a while, but then it just got boring after the first couple hours

i also found the news on the first brothers in arms double time for the wii.
looks pretty good for an ww2 game on wii.

it will have 31-32 missions or actually combining bia 1-2 in one game.
and now you can do hand signals with the wiimote thats cool.
