I spent so much time on FC:Instincts editor I can't wait for this - 1000 objects to play with, that's excellent.

Anyone know when it's due out?

Should be out by 31/10/2008.

I'm also going to cry, as this seems to have an editor that even zombies could use to create AAA style maps. All the time an effort I spend on brush construction and manually creating terrain brush by brush :\

The instincts editor was fairly easy to use, the skill was in using the bits to make more original structures. For instance the best map I ever made was a quarry, lots of broken machines and stuff at the bottom with a spiral track going around it. I used the round fort type buildings to make bunkers, old rusty tanks with bits added on to make diggers. Even with all those blocks, I think that using them in interesting ways will be the order of the day.

At the end of the video, the level looks a lot like a BF2 map, if we can get that complex with them then it will be a whole new XBL sport.

I've never mapped for far cry, basically because I only have it on my Xbox 360. The other editors I have used though, are GTK Radiant and Hammer, so I'm not sure if the far cry editor has brush work? Or is it just a basic editor where you place models from the game and raise and lower the ground?

It looks awesome I just saw it on the Official Far Cry 2 website. I can't wait. I'll be getting it on the 360. I hope to see some of your maps and thrash you on them

Give it a try Higgins, the 360 version has a great editor, that's what I use.

It's limited in the amount of objects more than anything else, the terrain editing is pretty good, object placement can be fiddly, but all in all it's good fun to make levels with it.

My thought is this: if the consoles are getting this, what are the PCs getting?

^*saves*

I hope they make the PC editor just as intuitive for the mouse and keyboard as that is for the XBox 360 controller.
