This is so cool. BMW has basically taken away the idea of having a metal or carbon fiber skin on a car, and replaced it with this flexible new material. Theres no hinges. To open the trunk, the skin separates like you'd imagine skin separating from a skull when a surgeon slices it with a scalpel (best way I can describe it). Everything is contained, including the lights, which close and open like eyes... just check it out:

Of course knowing me, this has probably been out, known, and posted about for a year.

Wow, that really is quite original, and futuristic too. Hopefully BMWs will be a little cheaper nowadays.

Haha I never even thought of that.

I can see it now:

Guy 1: "Dude, thats a V8GINA."

Guy 2: "What?! Where..."

Guy 1: "Right there man."

Guy 2: "Uh... where behind that car?"

Sucks when your door gets wore out and you have to buy a whole new frame.

That man sure speaks a lot of Black Sabbath if you know what I mean (Ok no one will get that, I mean BS ). The car looks pretty cool, no idea how practical it is though.

The problem with it is that people could go around stabbing holes in your car really easily, but I suppose I could say the exact same thing about keying peoples' cars, but that rarely happens anyway.

Thats the point of a concept car though; to spark ideas into other people's minds so they can create something inspired by the concept. Sure, this isnt very practical, but maybe someone will come up with a new fabric thats even stronger than what we have now, or will use some of the features from this like the changing seats and opening / closing eye skin.

This car is old news. It's a neat idea, but I don't like it.

I wouldn't underestimate the minds inferior to yours.

Car looks groovy - though I can't really see the point of the material - probably didn't listen to the guy properly.

maybe the fabric is really cheap, so when you get a hole, you just put on a new one!

If it was built like a F1 car, i.e. a heavy, tough carbon fibre middle shell and then a light outer body, I doubt it would be any less safe than any other car.

the framework/general shape doesnt look that nice, but obviously its just a concept, the point is the skin, just imagine they put the skin on a nicer skeleton

It's a suitable luxury car for those people who don't think crocks are ugly. I for one, am not one of those people.

If the fabric idea was meant to be the one remedy against dents, they owner must prepare for rips and tears. The grass isn't greener on the other side with regards to this concept.

Meh, Christine could get rid of dents back in the 80's.
