Newcomers DBPro Corner / Sprite problem in menu

I have a problem setting up a menu, when i load the images an make sprites of them as followed:



I only see the menu button but not the background. the title image is 1024x786 and I use a black background for my menu button. whats the problem and how can i solve it?

Specs: AMD Athlon 1800, 256 DDRRam 266mhz, 10GB HD, Geforce 4 Ti4400 128mb ddr sdram

Its possible that either a) You need to swap the sprite priorities around or b) give the sprite command the image you want to use (its missing a paramter).

I just tried your exact code replaced with 2 bmps of my own and it displayed them both. Your JPEGs are compressed, so maybe that's affecting the transparency of one on top of another???

The jpeg compression may be cutting corners by storing every shade of black used in your image under one value - say RGB(20,20,20) rather than RGB(0,0,0) for example and so your background is not classed as transparent any more.

I don't know if this helps but when in my menus I always do it like this.
After loading the sprite strecth it using the current screen height nad screen width. This works for me, but I don't know...
Then the title you can strecth with smaller number's so it won't fill the whole screen.
Hope this helps... I'm not any kind of a guru at 2d so this might be bullshit, but at least try it.

I found a way, I used my background image as an image an not as an sprite
