It's my birthday today (it's also my gf's moms bday o.O) Didn't do anything for it, but last night my gf took me out to dinner at this nice place, had a good steak Not the most eventful birthday I've had, but I got to spend most of the afternoon yesterday with my gf, so I'm satisfied. Yaaaaaaay (I'm not sure why I even made a thread here about it...but I just kinda did) One year closer to my death ^.^

Good news? I wanted him dead!

Seriously though, happy birthday, and darn you for saying that you are one year closer to death, that's what I usually say in these kinds of threads

The moment one is born he begins to die. Depressing thought. We're all on Death Row and none of us know it.

I wonder why people celebrate birth or birthdays for that matter. It the like the guard coming in to tell you that you have 12 hours before it's curtains. What is there to celebrate. The older I get, my birthday depresses me more than anything else.

However, by convention, and since it has been practiced for centuries. Happy Birthday!

And what's so bad about that? You generalize death as being a bad thing, when you really haven't experienced it, it's like saying that a coffee shop is bad because it looks bad even though you've never even tried the coffee there.

No one knows what happens when you die, my bet is, nothing, but who knows. And what's so bad about nothing? Nothing is bad about nothing, nothing is good either. So really. Why think death is bad when it's most likely... Nothing.

Oh and this is not to piss any religious people off, don't sweat it, I don't mean any bad things, as I said, I don't know what happens when you die.

Theres a time to live! And a time to die! And a time to meet your maker! But isn't it abit strange as soon as your born your dying! Sorry, but that was from a great iron maiden song.

I don't think there is a heaven nor hell. We just live and die. Though being a christian who believes in heaven I think the idea of people being dead and been sent to a place full of clouds and angels seems a bit far-fetched. Same goes with fire and lava which is hell.

Those are just the stereotypical version of what we think heaven/hell look like. No one can say what they really look like, cause no one has ever come back from either place. For all we know heaven could be different for each person. Maybe its your "Ideal world" just for you, and everyone's "ideal world" would be different, because everyone like different stuff.

I have always seen people cry, when someone dies.
Conversely I have alwasy seen people joyful, at the time of birth.

The empirical evdience suggests that death is bad and birth is good.
Although I stated a reason that should disprove the latter, too. Isn't it a fact that you begin to die the moment you are born?

I conclude therefore that birth and death are both bad.

Actually, why should we dwell so much upon instantaneous events such as birth and death. The life inbetween is beautiful. Live and let live. Happy Birthday!

That's your opinion and you're entitled to, just as I'm entitled to mine. I can't say for sure what happens when you die, but I DO believe in the heaven/hell concept, even if it isn't fluffy clouds and angels/lava and fire.

I didn't really celebrate anything this year, other than getting to spend extra time with my girlfriend the day before my bday.

And as for the stuff about death and whatnot, I have friends who party for the dead, rather than mourn. I like that, the dead will be missed but we can't treat it as though it's something undeniably bad, we simply don't know.

thats okay, didn't make me angry

People live and people die thats how it is, what happens happens, you know what I mean. And I have to say this would be the freaking place that gets into a deep conversation about death when someone was having a birthday thread

so morose.
