Hello,

I'm just getting started with DarkBASIC and I can't get the following working:

print "hello world"

I type it in the editor and I get an error at a line (344, I think) which has trouble loading a sound file. When I go back to the editor the file I get a program which looks like a game of sorts.

What do I need to do to get started and how do I get rid of the other file.

Thanks.

Try creating a new project, see if that fixes it.

Ever notice how in Microsoft word, the word "microsoft" is auto corrected to be "Microsoft" but "macintosh" just gets the dumb red underline?

Thanks BN2 Productions... I've created a new project and saved a file which contains - print "Hello...". And when I try to execute I get the following:

RUNTIME WARNING AT LINE 338: SOUND COULD NOT BE LOADED

The project that gets compiled is not the one I created but one created by JETSKI - Author: Lee Bamber - 1st May 2000. I've closed this project and tried to compile the my project but still the Jetski project gets compiled.

Any ideas?

Are you using Dark Edit? or the built in editor (a very dark, fullscreen program with white text on a black background)?

NanoGamez guy, I'm using the built-in editor. the version I have doesn't have Dark Edit. I'm supposed to be teaching (BTEC National students) DarkBASIC in the coming weeks, and I'd like to get up to speed.

Is the problem with the built-in Editor?

Dark Edit should be in there.

You can have two projects open in the default editor have you tried clearing them both?

I would highly recommend using an editor like darkedit especially if you are teaching, it offers a lot more windows like controls and is just generally easier to use and easier on the eyes.

It is far better to complete a 10 line program than to start a 10,000 line program.

OBese87... Thanks.

When I run DarkBASIC there are no projects open (1 or 2) it's only when try to execute a 'hello world' type program that the other project gets compiled.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I have to work from a Flash Drive and I don't have access to the C: drive... will this be an issue?

Thanks.
