I saw his "hot pockets" stand up and it was so stupid I actually got mad at the world

Though he does have some hilarious stand ups. He can be hella funny at times.

yeah, he's okay. He's not in my top 5, though.
My top 5:
1) Jeff Dunham.
2) Carlos Mencia
3) Ron White
4) Dane Cook
5) Jeff Foxworthy

He used to be great. His show sucks now. The rest are some of my favorites, though.

I love Jim Gaffigan.

Agreed. But Jim Gaffigan is awesome, even if his comedy revolves around pointless topics that nobody cares about.

90% of statistics are completely inaccurate.

I'm sure if you were to put bacon bits on a strip of bacon, you'd go back in time. It's like a tasty vortex.

Dane cook is hilarious but not very creative. the problem with dane is that he repeats about half of his jokes at every standup. they start to get old. also, all "good" comedians speak of real life experiences, where dane makes a good third of his jokes up. he would probably do better on Saturday night live. Realy, ive devoted most of my life to comedy and i find that the people who spend every night watching comedy central tend to hate dane cook, because he is just a fad and there are much more funny comedians out there, they just are not famous like Dane. Jim gaffigan was fantastic though, however i think he would do better with his own show. notice how he keeps impersonating little voices? that skill is rarely found, he could do much better at a show where he acts out everything.

personaly i think you should check out Gabriel Eglesias, he is one of my favorites. although my idol is Robert Benfur, the comedy god also known as knox. he wouldent do well in stand up though.

wath this and laugh your lungs out:

ahh, Robert at his best

Dane Cook is the biggest, unfunniest tool on the face of the earth. Painful to watch.

Must be American humour, because I didn't find his Bacon sketch very funny.

I suppose he might be the American equivalent of Peter Kaye. He is ridiculously funny to the majority of Brits, but no other nation would understand why he is so funny. America took Basil out of Fawlty Towers, and changed David Brent in The Office, which is like taking bacon out of a bacon sandwich to British people.

I've never heard such a false statement in my life. It's obvious you haven't seen Dimitri Martin.

Try watching, Jack Dee or Lee Evans, I think British comedy is the best.

Funny that Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant actually created the office uk and us. And the American version gets boring, atleast the british one got me to watch till the end.

So you are calling my opinions false? When it comes to opinions there can't be any right or wrong, it's just an opinion and everyone has their own. And mine just happens to be that I have watched a lot of standup in my life and I find NONE of them funny and all of them idiotic.
And that's my OPINION, you have no right to call it a false one.

Bacon was incredibly un-funny. Holidays made me chuckle a bit near the end. Cake is proving pretty unfunny as well :\

I never found all this standup stuff really funny.

Alucard94, you did not say that was your opinion. From what you said it sounded like you were saying that anyone who likes stand up is as idiot. Which is a false statement. I wouldn't have any objection if you said it was your opinion as everyone is entitled to an opinion.

But I do dislike how you just grouped everyone who likes stand up as an idiot. That's like saying everyone who eats pie is obese. I like pie, I'm not obese.

Yes it was - that is the whole point of the show, and why the American version doesn't work. You are supposed to feel embarrassed for David Brent, shake your head and shout "Nooooo" at the TV

Quote: "The american version is much better "

Which is my point - sense of humour is localised, The American Office is a complete failure here, it went straight to UK TV Gold 2 +1

Didn't find them that funny myself - though I suppose it's American humour, though two American stand-ups I do love as Bill Hicks and Henry Rollins, but then again they're not exactly tame. Personally I'm patriotic when it comes to stand-up, I've never seen anybody funnier than some of our very own British comedians like Eddie Izzard, Bill Bailey, Dylan Moran, Jack Dee etc. Though one American comedian I do love is Rich Hall, not seen his stand-up and is a good contributor to the UK's comedy quiz show 'QI', and I caught his 'Fishing Show' on Dave last night, which I thought was quite funny.

But people talking about The Office...I don't find it funny - either versions. But what comedy shows are great are the Peep Show (seasons 1 and 2, I've not found more recent ones that funny) and Black Books - the latter is great for the 'drunken Irish' stereotype, it got quite insane at times. But then humour is really a subjective thing of course, but if any yanks with a less 'tame' sense of humour are reading, there might be some recommendations there.

One thing I just recently noticed that I thought was slightly hilarious was The IT Crowd, I find myself real life "LOL"'ing because of that show.

The Dutch tend to like the British humour - reminds us of our superiority, I guess. No, just kidding there - we like British humour and actually, we like quite some American humor too.

I didn't personally like The Office (UK version, not seen the US one). I just didn't get it. Nor did I like Little Britain (but then some of us need more stimulating humour than the same joke reused over and over). Whose Line Is It Anyway was good (the US version of course, the UK version wasn't as funny in my opinion). As you can tell I don't really think much of modern comedy (on the TV at least). But I like Ross Noble and Lee Evans.

Sorry, I was typing quick as I had dinner to attend to. I'm sure you can still decipher it.

Quote: "Nor did I like Little Britain (but then some of us need more stimulating humour than the same joke reused over and over)."

Little Britain had a few good jokes when I started watching it, but it just got tedius. "Yes, I get it, he's a guy in a wheel chair that can walk and he likes to be a pain in the rear for his friend. How many more times can you tell this joke?" Similarly 'The Catherine Tate Show', yeah we know you're not bothered (and having Tony Blair on the show only made us realise that he wasn't bothered either).

The only real standup I like is Gabriel Iglesias. The bit that's played on Comedy Central can have me laughing for hours. The show is Gabriel Iglesias: Hot and Fluffy.

Yes, the American version doesn't work - IN BRITIAN. And also why the British version doesn't work either - IN AMERICA. The American version of The Office had to be changed because I guess British like their humor SO dark. My wife bought me DVD's of both versions - and we didn't care for the British version either. But I guess that proves a point - all humor is localized, or an "inside joke" at least to some extent.

No, I cringe, a lot when watching. It definitely works I tried watching the British version but it creeped me out. It was like the same people, but they looked different
