I recently bought the pack of all the ID games off steam, and I've noticed some strange problems with Doom 3, namely, it lags to the point of unplayability. I have the setting turned all the way down and every background application closed.

I had the Doom 3 demo once on my last computer, and it wasn't even half as good as my current computer, and it ran it on medium/high details without any lag. Has anyone else experienced lag with Doom 3 on steam?

I would check this website..
Can You RUN it?
But if that comes out positive that you can run it I think it could be a problem with the transfer from steam to your comp.

XFX Nvidia GeForce 7950 512MB

and I have my video card driver updated to the latest.
