Newcomers DBPro Corner / help my collisions dont work

hi, i decided to try a simple game that turned out to be a headache
firstly my collisions with the bricks dont work and secondly the deflection when colliding with another sprite is all wrong
also how do you define a global variable without using dim statement.
how could such a basic game be so hard to make

plz help me obi wan kenobi, your my only hope

Get yourselve Dark Physics it dose collision with ease, no more headhacke. Actualy you can get it for 50$ and DBP included.

When it is too complicated it is because you are trying at the wrong door.

honestly im sure its dark basic pro playing up cause i just created another very simple version (no complex mathematics)and its doing the same thing.

it just doesnt detect the collisions and act on them.
the ball either bounces off the bricks or bounces off the wall but not both at the same run time. can anyone see why?

im already using darkbasic pro upgraded to 6.9 and codesurge

one thing bugs me it's just that i have 4gigs of ram and xp home basic which only recognised 3.2 gigs, im wondering if this has a effect on darkbasic since darkbasic organises all the memory.
