It is about an animated comedy series called Milk Paton. It is some clips of it, with the theme music. It tells you it is coming out in December.

I figured that much. What I didn't understand was what the heck was going on in the clips or what the series was about. To me, it just looked like someone had waaaaaaaay too much coffee and got a hold of some adobe programs. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just being honest. I'm somewhat over-critical of these things because I'm going to college for multimedia design, so I always deal with video and 3d and flash and all that stuff.

Basically, the whole series is about people who had waaaaaaaaaaaay to much coffee. Lets just say as far as I know, the series has quite a following in my home-city. Sometimes, academics and school are simply wrong - Milk Paton is just simple, plain, extreme fun.

The Pittsburgh Technical Institute.

Quote: "Sometimes, academics and school are simply wrong - Milk Paton is just simple, plain, extreme fun."

It has nothing to do with academics and 2+2 and ABCDEFG. Its more about the design elements and all the over-used effects. The trailer isn't "bad", its just kinda amateurish and not well thought out. The subtitles saying "YEAH! are totally unnecessary, the titles on a plain black background are totally bland, and need to be improved, and the whole video seems very poorly planned. I gave me absolutely no information about the show. What is the story about? Who are the characters? Where is it set? What genre is it? NONE of these things were explained, and ALL of them NEEDED to be. For all I know the show could be incredibly awesome. But I can't tell because of the poorly made trailer. If I had turned that in for an assignment, I would have gotten a zero.

Please don't take this as an insulting or angry post. I'm just trying to give my opinion as a semi-professional in this field, in order to help you improve.

Trailer is for people already famiilar with the show, it isn't supposed to inform it's supposed to "tease". Hence; teaser trailer.

Your feedback is valid, but this isn't some huge trailer to draw in the masses, it's a few clips for TGCers and people on my MSN to remind them the show is still on the way.

Yeah, that trailer makes tons of sense to me, actually. I'm a big fan of Milk Paton. Don't bash it until you've watched it. This teaser trailer was welcomed with open arms, even if it's completely retarded.

Okay, I didn't know that. If that's the case, its a could be a pretty good trailer. I thought it was meant to be a normal first-look-in-theaters kind of trailer.

Quote: "Don't bash it until you've watched it"

I was never "bashing" anything. I was criticizing the trailer, I never really said anything about the show itself.

Quote: "you can't constructively criticize something you don't know about"

Thats true, but I wasn't criticizing the show (Which I know nothing about.) I was criticizing the trailer. (Which I watched, and therefore knew about.)

I'll watch some of the episodes if I get the chance. For all I know, I could end up loving it. I was only saying that the trailer could use improvement.

Since the teaser has 'people who have seen the shows before' as target audience, you basically do not meet the 'requirements'.

I thought the trailer was pretty good. I mean its no blockbuster CGI breeding ground, but its not supposed to be.
It would be like Monty Python, filmed with today's HD Cameras and Special effects. It wouldn't be the same.

Quote: "The trailer isn't "bad", its just kinda amateurish and not well thought out"

Coming from the Video master.
Perhaps the Video was more thought out than you think. I think the trailer was meant to be a spoof of pumped up action Films, in a true milk paton style.

Quote: "

Teaser Trailer?

Not trying to be mean or anything, but I think you were a little too sharp on Drew, considering the amount of work he has put into the upcoming series.

I'm also not saying his work is "Perfect". But with the budget he obviously has, its pretty damn good.

It would be interesting to see some of your video work Omega.

I did this trailer for a project last semester.
I wanted to make it a lot better, but I had to meet the instructor's specifications. (I had to cut it a lot for time and such.)

Also, I am currently working on a video, but it wont be ready for some time. (mainly due to the fact that all the actors are as busy as I am, and therefore have very little time to work on it.) Its a parody of the song "Fergalicious", but its all about coding in DBP. It is aptly named "Code-a-licious: And in case you were wondering, YES, I was inspired by this video.

Quote: "Uh, by criticizing the trailer, you did criticizing the show"

Uhh... No? I was criticizing the trailer, and NOT the show. I was criticizing the Trailer because it wasn't very good, but for all I know, the show could be awesome.
I didn't think that the trailers for "Death race" were very good, but I have nothing but positive things to say about the movie itself.

They look kinda silly. Don't really fit the movie at all. They look out of place. Also, the music choices seemed kinda lame to me. Not trying to be rude, but in all honesty I probably wouldn't go see I Am Legend if that was a trailer for it.

That may sound harsh, but whenever I'm showcasing something I want complete honesty. If my work sucks I wanna know the exact reason why.

I appreciate honesty. As long as you're being honest and constructive, and not just mindlessly bashing my work, I welcome criticism.
Although I respect your opinion, I'll have to disagree with it. The fonts are all destroyed and beat up and run down looking. This movie is about

I also think that the music choices were very appropriate. In the movie

So "boulevard of broken dreams" fits very well.
The second music choice "Last resort" also fits well because
SPOILERS:

My instructor, who has been a working professional in the video and movie industry for many years, gave me an "A" on this trailer.
It may have not fit your personal tastes, and that's fine, but to an objective and trained industry professional, this was a great trailer.

Quote: "So I would say they fit very well. I also think that the music choices were very appropriate."

Lesson one being a designer: you're not making what you think fits well, but what your audience thinks fits well. If you take a close look at your audience, everyone but you finds the typography and the coloring of the text inappropriate. A more distinguished, more epic, clear font with classic white would be far more appropriate and not surprisingly, this is exactly what was used in the original trailer.

The music doesn't fit either. The lyrics might fit, but the sound and tone of the music doesn't fit to a movie in which someone is all alone in the way Will Smith is alone in the movie - especially not combined with the more often than not epic cinematographic scenes you've chosen to show.

Basic rule of thumb: there's nothing like 'your own taste', unless you can make your taste fit with that of your customer.

That's pretty much all a trailer is; video clips with music and some text.
@Agent Dink:
I didn't mean that YOU were mindlessly bashing my work. What I meant was that I welcome any constructive criticism, as opposed to mindless bashing.
My last semester (when I made my trailer) was my first semester in which I has video courses, but my 3rd semester over all.
Quote: "Lesson one being a designer: you're not making what you think fits well, but what your audience thinks fits well."

I'm well aware of that rule, and I guess I worded my post badly. What I meant was that I, my professor, and my entire class, all thought they fit well.
As I said, my AV editing professor (who is an industry professional) gave me a very good grade on it. No offense, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with his opinion over any of yours. Not to say you are wrong or anything, its just that he has a more trained eye, and has been doing this for many years.
Quote: "Basic rule of thumb: there's nothing like 'your own taste', unless you can make your taste fit with that of your customer."

EXACTLY. My "customer" was my professor. And my "audience" was my classmates. They liked this trailer, so I did my job.
I appreciate your input and criticism, but I'm afraid that I'm going to have to go with my professor on this one.

He would go with his professor, who understands he is new to the subject and grades him accordingly. We, the normal audience expect nothing but the best stuff in trailers, since we're accustomed to only seeing a final product. What omegagamer has created is a product by a student. The professor understands he still has a long way to go.

As such, the professor can grade it as 'good', but we could still grade it as 'not even close to good'. Since Drew targets 'us', his teaser trailer could be good in the eyes of Drews' audience, and bad in the eyes of omegagamers' professor.

Although honestly, the typography, coloring and music are horrible. I would imagine that if you'd ask your professor whether this would be a good official trailer for the movie, he'd laugh and answer 'hell no, but you'll get there if you work hard'.

Maybe you should just show your professor Drews' series once. They're pretty fun.

Aye, I just watched through prison break, and I was quite entertained. The voicing is sooo cheasy sometimes, but it's so silly that it's part of the allure.

Manhunt was particularly good. When the cop gets right in the face of what's his name, and screams "NOOOOOOOOOOoooo". Priceless.

Omega Gamer:

I hate to say it, but if I was sitting in a movie theater watching previews and I saw your trailer, I would turn to my friend on the right and say, "Wow. That movie's gonna suck." And if there was an industry professional sitting to my left, he would probably turn to me and say the same thing. You can't pick music simply because the titles and some of the lyrics correspond with your theme; you have to think of the tone of the music. The movie is very depressing in many parts, and very lonesome in many parts. You would be much better with a soft grunge/metal sound, and maybe some heavier metal for the action parts, rather than Green Day. The font looked silly. That's the best way I can put it. It's yellow, it looks like it would fit in a superhero movie, not a in a depressing post-apocalyptic movie. You've got to learn that trailer's are all about what fits; and in Drew's trailer, the crazy hard-to-follow action scenes combined with a weird voice saying "yeah, yeah, yeah" repeatedly fits very well.

Drew:

Anyways, the trailer looked awesome, I'm gonna subscribe right now.

90% of statistics are completely inaccurate.

Because we're talking about the art of the "trailer", has anyone seen this remixed Shining one? It's genius, because it makes the movie look like a heartwarming family flick instead of a freaky horror.
