Has anyone else heard of this? J.K. Rowling is putting out another book!
Yes, it is from the Harry Potter universe.
No, it is not ABOUT Harry Potter.
"The tales of Beedle the bard" is a rare book that Hermione has in the last book. Its essentially the Harry Potter equivalent of "Grimm's fairy tales."
Its all about wizarding legends and children's stories and such.

Thoughts?

When you've got a money-making franchise going, why not keep churning it out until the punters catch on?!?!?

I'm not saying its a bad thing, I'm just seeing what people's thoughts are on this.

Quote: "why not keep churning it out"

Because doing that sometimes diminishes the franchise. It is wise to do it, but only to a certain extent. If you milk it too long, eventually it just gets sad, and people begin to dislike the franchise.

This is only one little spin off, but a lot of franchises don't know when its time to gracefully step down.

Honestly if I had 500 million already, I wouldn't have any incentive to want any more money, do you even realize how much loot that is? And besides, with the end of book 7, there really can't be any GOOD sequels can there?

Ya, I heard she was the first billionaire writer. Anyways, I guess I'll get this, I just hope that she's not gonna whip something up for the sake of making money.

I still can't get my head around the timeline of these books. The first one was in 1997, yet I have a computer game from 1991 that includes all of the characters and locations, with slight variations in some of the names. But it's definitely the same premise.

I know, I'm not saying she does it for the money, it's just that people above me were talking about it from the money standpoint. When did I say she doesn't enjoy writing and doesn't care about the money? I know she does, it's not like I'm trying to imply that she only does it for the money.

Sorry, I don't know where I got the date 1991 from now. Anyway, if you want to see the game I'm referring to, it's here...

If I could just interject, I don't think that "Beedle the Bard" is about making money - from what I've heard, the proceeds will be donated to charity.

Quote: "And besides, with the end of book 7, there really can't be any GOOD sequels can there?"

It's not actually a sequel - it's the book of "fairy tales" referred to in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The book where you learn about the three brothers of ancient times, and how they gained the Elder wand, the invisibility cloak (and I forget the second one's name ).

Personally I'm really looking forward to it!

[edit] Just been looking at that game you were talking about. It looks...erm... interesting... (but frankly I prefer the books )

You got my post wrong, someone said that if she makes that much money then why doesn't she just continue milking it out and making more cash, and I noted that with the end of book seven, there couldn't come any good sequels.
I know this isn't a sequel, I've known about this book for a long time.
