At least you didn't get catapaulted onto someone's front garden like my Dad was in his Punto after being hit by some old duffer in a shiny Volvo who actually forgot which was the accelerator and which was the brake...

He still drives today. How is that legal?

So did I, good to be wrong sometimes. Though I don't know why someone would ask for help with that on here if it was indeed the case.

10 years? It's always good to have goals in life, but a car is merely a tool used for transport. Try for a less materialistic goal next time. It's those that bring true satisfaction.

Also, how's the state of the other guy/car?

Oh him? He died, but who cares, this guys BABY is hurt!

Just teasing a bit. Anyhow... 10 years for a car. Yikes. Like Grandma said, it's just a means of transportation.

Also, if you've been rear ended twice in one year, I have to question your driving. Not to pass off the blame, but it's no doubt you're probably accelerating hard and stopping fast... Who wouldn't want to in such a nice vehicle, but erratic driving is never a good idea.

^that's all speculation mind you, dunno if it's true or not^

Perhaps the reason is that the Lotus is a very low car and so people in their SUV and people carrier monstrosities cannot see you. Trucks would have no hope either.

At least you weren't catapulted into another car. If you were stopped chances are there was a bit of traffic causing you to wait. It sucks but easily could have been worse.

I've been there man, I've been rear-ended while stopped 3 times!

Last week, Ohio had a huge wind storm (70+ mph winds). On my way home I stopped because a tree branch was in the road. I was about to get out and help a guy move it when I heard another branch hit the roof of my jag. Big scratch across the roof with a small dent and some on the driver side. I'm meeting with my insurance adjuster tomorrow morning. My car is red also, but mother nature can't tell the difference.

First I'm hit by a deer, then a tree hits me. And yet nobody believes that, go figure.

DUDE, you don't say "My baby is hurt" and then show us a picture of a Lotus Elise all banged up like that. It's rude. The title should be "My baby is hurt [WARNING! Lotus Elise destruction pix]" . I can't watch Hull City beat Arsenal 2-1 on Saturday, then come to TGC on Sunday and see a broken Lotus Elise, lol.

Quote: "I had it completly resprayed from green to red"

Tell me you had a British Racing Green Lotus Elise and you repainted it to red. Red! Ugh! Sorry, I know you're going through tough times, but yeesh!

Quote: "Both times I was hit I was completly stationary."

If you get rear-ended in an Elise while in motion, it'd leave me wondering what it was that hit you, lol.

In all seriousness though, I can totally understand why someone would save that long to get a Lotus Elise, it's one of my three main "dream cars," alongside the Ferrari F430 and Aston Martin DB9. The damage doesn't look *too* bad, it seems to mostly be body work. You might need new exhaust tips and the rear diffuser is going to cost some serious coin, but I mean hey, this is a Lotus Elise, not a Honda Civic or whatever. Not that you should have any real issues, I'm sure you had good insurance on this thing. Sorry to hear (and see) about this, glad you're okay and the damage was minimal though.

Gotta be an Elise as there's no roof on it.

Now how come you get an Elise as your rental and my rental history consists of either a Taurus or a Commander?

MY car is an 98 Elise completly bog standard, With UK insurance you can goto 3rd parties that will supply you with a like for like car and handle most of your claim. Yeah it took me ten years to save for it, in that time I did buy a house and various other stuff happened that meant it took me longer than I had hoped.
If the insurance company cant/wont fix it I doubt I could afford another in this current economic climate. I should find out on Friday.

You were rear ended, you didn't cause it. I'm sure you'll get a good settlement. Worse comes to worse you'll get cash and can think about buying an upgrade

Looks like my birds car (2002 faster version 0-60 in 4.9 secs). She reversed into something a while back and dented the rear heat protector thingy you get on the faster ones.

Downsides are that practicality is almost non existant, you look like an idiot getting in and out (is a sliding type motion), it handles like a fat pig at really low speeds (no power steering option till about 2005 I believe), has the visibility of a small submarine, has the road presence of a tricycle (no-one can see you), feels like you are lying down in a bath (lots of metal), has pretty much no gizmos (the *hole* for a stereo used to be an option, as well as carpet), and sounds like a clanky old piece of machinery from the inside. Apart from that the damn thing is *awesome*. Heheheh

Oh, and my birds car is red with the black alloys. Nice, but I prefer the look of that gun metal rental above. Better with the black alloys though.

Cheers

I always prefered the look of the series one, the later ones are a bit steryle in the way they drive.
I do agree that it is the most impraticle car I have ever owned, getting in and out is an art in itself but something you get used to. In the two years I owned the car I have never felt it needed power steering. With regards to the lack of visibilty removal of the rear view mirror and replacement for a small one did wonders. I agree no one sees you on the road but that is down to poor driving of others, you get used to driving very defensivly, worst offenders are van drivers, one of the reasons I had it repainted bright red. No point in having a stereo as you can never hear the thing over the engine noise. there are a whole list of other flaws as well. But I have never driven anything like the Elise, its so much fun.

Damage doesn't look too severe, mostly body work. I'd be surprised if they didn't repair it. I guess it all depends on if anything was bent in the engine.

I remember once getting to a roundabout from a dual carriageway (ie. fast road) and seeing a car upside down in a tree about 10 foot off the ground. Nicely balanced in the thin branches it was. Nothing visibly damaged either. Nice...

there's this one section with a dumpster in the game that's just off the road. I stuck a car in there once Today, from the road, I flipped it and got it stuck in a small alley engine side down, trunk side up.

I dunno how I manage that kinda stuff Can't wait for it to come out on pc so I can play on my puter

Anyways...

What's wrong with this darn machine. I put up a post on the "Word Association" thread and it pops up on this thread.
