Just heard about this, Simon Pegg is one of the best actors from the UK in a long long time.

I dont think I can see him playing a star trek character. Just getting this image in my head of a hung over Simon Pegg walking down a zombie infested street...

I heard about this a long time ago. Couldn't imagine it then, can't imagine it now.

Should I continue coding or focus on my art? Vote here:

Simon Pegg is a great actor, one of my favorites, but I can't see how he'll play a star trek character.

Yeah he doesn't seem like the type of guys who would fit into Star Trek, but apparently he is going to be playing Scotty (TOE). I agree though, doing something serious like this just isn't him he should be throwing vinyls at the heads of zombies in the back garden or something.

He was a guest on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross (UK Show), and he was talking about it, he didn't say much because he was under strict instructions not to!

Wow. I dunno where to go with this. Simon Pegg's a great actor and all, but he's a great comedy actor, I dunno how well he'll do in a serious role....

Then again, he wasn't too bad in Big Nothing with a semi-serious role, so he'll probably do alright, he also was good in a Doctor who episode a few series back, so yeh, I reckon he'll do well.....

I think he just dies on it, not a big character just a extra who dies. But I think it seems pretty funny him being in Star Trek.

His character is Scotty.

I think all comedians make pretty good actors. You are so used to them playing funny roles, when they are serious on screen, its so much more believable.

For example:
Billy Connolly in the new X-Files
Adam Sandler in the serious parts of "Click"
Jim Carey in Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind and Number 23

Never watched Star Trek in my life so I'm not so good with names in that universe, I think the only things I played/saw of star-trek was the games and most sucked horribly.

Scotty is the guy who always says "Captain, she can't take much more of this!".

Sylar from Heroes is playing Spock, I think they're being pretty clever with their cast choice. Not a trekkie myself but I think the new movie might be pretty good, Simon Pegg did a great job on Dr.Who, I think the cast will please fans a lot more than any A-list hollywood gimp.

Yeah, I'm so shocked on how he looks just like the original Spock.

I'm sure they'll use him as comic relief for the most part, though Pegg has always been a sort of "serious comic." Like, his character is the most serious in the lineup, and funny things are happening around or to him. For instance, Shaun was trying to live his life, until Ed and those zombies messed things up for him. Hardcore serious cop Nick Angel was a proper policemen until he went to the wackjob town of Sandford. I think Tim on Spaced was his most directly-funny character that I've seen... normally he plays a "fish out of water" role, so maybe it's going to be a decent transition for him as an actor.

Haven't seen the new x-files but I know he can be perform well.
Adam Sandler made cry in "Click", no lie it was that good, he did so well.
Jim Carrey - What more can I say, this man is my hero, anything he makes I will see.

Anywho, Peggie is going to do just fine, he was awesome as Nicholas Angel, he's more than ready for a serious role, I'm ready to see how he does.
