Hey, this might seem a silly question, but perhaps some people have some recommendations from their own personal purchases and experiences with laptop backpacks. I want a nice laptop backpack, sturdy, nice padding on the shoulder straps and maybe some padding on the back. It needs to be able to carry up to 17" laptops + power cables and accessories. Now here's the catch. I also want to be able to throw a change of clothes, or a jacket, or other extra things like that. I know this seems like I'm being lazy asking something like this, but problem is, I don't really know where to shop for these kinds of backpacks other than online, and as you know it's hard to tell the manufacturing quality online and stores have such limited selections sometimes. So basically if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. I live in Ohio USA, so you can suggest any chain stores that might sell this stuff in this part of the country.

Thanks :p

I found a nice one at Wal-mart over here, padded shoulders, makes it easier lug my heavy Vostro around. I stick my TV tuner, power cables batteries, ect in the front pouches, 3 textbooks and a pack of pens in the front. Finally my laptop and binder in the back. I'll post a picture in a second.

I just use a regular backback and shirts/most anything but jeans as padding.

I always buy a messenger bag and chute the laptop bag. Nothing says "Laptop in here" that a dell bag.

I buy my bags from here http://www.couchuk.com/catalog/0d2122cd-d4b1-4ab2-a34b-7fe5735adfcd.aspx. The bags are great for clearing a nice space. Those foam spikes are scary for the chavs.

I'll add something later on.

Check out Timbuk2 bags, nice large customizable bags for about $150. My friend just bought a real nice one from some store in Hawaii (only place that had the bag in black), can't remember the name of the company but it was around $300. Not sure what kind of budget you're on.

Here's the bag I bought about 4 years ago (sadly at twice the price), but I can fit my 17" powerbook in it just fine even though it said 15" notebooks.
