I have been a member here for a long time. I have been into Internet Marketing for quite a while and have been learning the in's and out's of that business. This has basically been taking up all my time and I have not been able to be here to much.

I have kind of been thinking how I could combine the 2 so here is my idea. I want to set up a site where you all could advertise your games for free, I would do all the site design and set up, I would not physically have to have a copy of your product. I would set up a link to your PayPal account for customers to purchase or a link to your site or both if you want. I will build market and promote the site at my expense All you would have to do is provide a description of your game for the site, some screenshots and a link to your PayPal site, website or both.

You make money for selling your products and I would make money by making it a membership site for customers for probably a crazy low monthly price of about $5.00.

Any interest in this let me know in this thread!

Thanks
Scott

This is just in the idea stage now. If you have a finished game you would like me to post then you are not only marketing it from your site but mine also, the more places you are marketing your products from the more eyes on it = more sales and cash in your pocket.

If you don't have a game I could just promote your site. Basically this site would be to promote finished games. It would not be about game programming, I would love to do a site on game programming but I want to make a little money from it also and I can't find a way except for maybe this idea.

I have not found any Indie product developers who have affiliate programs or anyone that is willing to cut me a price break to sell their products. I would love to do a great full blown content site on game programming and offer a one stop shop for tut's development products and everything that goes along with it but I need to make something from it.

Any ideas are welcome.

I said I have been a member for a long time, I know it says Sept. 08 My computer crashed and I had to re-register I lost my log in info, I have actually been a member here since Oct or Nov 2000, I own DBC, DBP, the c++ program FPSC, I bought some 3D graphic software from here and I pop into the forums once in a while. I am not good with anything but it is fun to play around with, maybe sometime when I get more time I will start doing my own things!

I am not here to scam or rip anyone off I am just trying to find a way to integrate game programming and 3D graphics, which I love to play around with, with my internet marketing knowledge so maybe I can make a little money and have some fun and interact with all of you in these communities at the same time!

I have asked TGC about an affiliate program and they said not enough interest, basically what most of the other indie developers in these industries said so any ideas on how I could do this are welcome.

I also have my internet marketing friends helping me figure it out!

I don't think advertising on these forums is permitted without their consent. If you want to go through with this idea, contact them directly.

I don't think I am advertising here. Have I tried to sell you anything? If I do this it is gonna be free to all of you to advertise your products, except for you calcyman you have to pay LOL!

I have seen lot's of people advertise there websites here in the past. I'll admit I have not been around here for quit a while so maybe things have changed so I will check it out.

So if anyone has a problem with me offering you an idea I have for a free service to you game programmers let me know because I can charge good money for advertising space on a popular website, I may not get it here or even offer it here but I will get it.

I just thought free would be nice for you guys!

I misunderstood - I thought you was charging us $5.00 to advertise each game.

No it would be free to everyone to advertise your products on, there also would be other content and probably a forum and I would charge a fee to be a member, if you are advertising on the site maybe free to you if I could figure that out!

You won't get many members if you charge them just to look at adverts!

You'd be better off just putting google ads on the pages, and maybe let people pay to have their game 'featured'

I have been on the marketing forums and I may take a different direction with this but If I do feature some games it would still be free

I agree with Diggsey. People wont pay a cent to be a part of a forum or any website that doesnt offer them something of equal or greater value for their dollar.

I also think that people that want to market their game will not go to such a place, because lets face it, you can get your own domain name for $10 to $12 per year and find really cheap (or free) web hosting servers and target any audience you want (with yourself calling all the shots).

The only way I see your idea working is if you've created some type of partnership deal with some major/well known company that will direct traffic your way and draw in many people to your site.
