I want to make a batch file or something like that, which could use (if they exist) dark basic lite command prompt commands to compile a given dba file, so that I could edit them in note pad and just click an icon to test, or build the app. The dark basic lite environment is annoying and takes over my computer screen. With the above, I could just edit the files in notepad, and keep my other windows accessible. I'm not sure about debugging though (i'll assume that I won't make any mistakes. Notepadd can't take input) Is this possible?
thanks

so there are no commands? Can I do anything with it from command prompt?

Well, there is a way to tell darkbasic to compile some code. I believe the call is EXECUTE FILE DB.EXE,C

I am not exactly sure how to correctly format the command part at the end. there are 3. One is compile, one execute, and the other is to build final. C should be compile. Sorry I can't give you much more complete advice, I read about it a while ago, but haven't put it to good use.

Try searching the forums for things like shell execute dark basic and such, you might find it.

Ever notice how in Microsoft word, the word "microsoft" is auto corrected to be "Microsoft" but "macintosh" just gets the dumb red underline?

Well, I might make my own IDE in c# depending on the legal aspects of dark basic lite. I don't know if It violates a user agreement or something, but if it is allowed, i will do it. However, for now the batch file should work perfectly so does any1 know what BN2 Productions was talking about, does anyone know the complete commands, because I can't find them anywhere.

Batch file attached. It worked for me, it should work for you, too. I didn't bother zipping it, since it's not a huge file.

If you want, I can attach files for checking syntax, and one for making an exe. I made an IDE that uses these shell commands; search for Dark Creator and you should find it.

@pr0fess0r cha0s

It sounds like your looking for the command line arguments to launch a DB script. There are a few commands that you could use directly on the command line or incorporate into a batch program. Take a look at this excerpt from the help files. The names test.dba, small.exe, and large.exe are only place holders for the examples. Use names and directories that are relative to your project/machine.

Enjoy your day.

Hey sinani 201, thanks, I would like to see how you did your batch files for syntax checking. I have some ideas that I don't think are in any ide for any language, and I can't wait to get ch@0s ed1t0r going. thanks every one that has posted. I think that I can write an ide, the textpad thing is just not ebnough.
