Hey everyone, I'm not quite sure if this is the right board to post a question, but I am having some trouble modifying an aspect of my game. When I test my game, I come to the "And who do you want to be?" Screen with choices of characters, but I would like to know how to change that text, and how to change that rendering of the level with a jpg or a still picture.

I'm kind of tired of it previewing my levels because most of the time it shows the outside of the level and it just looks really bad.

Thanks in advance

To do custom text in FPSC you need to make a new image file in a paint program then set the image size to incorporate the size of the on screen text required. Make the image blackground completely black then put your text on top. Save the image as .png then put it into the text folder within languagebank directory. Then make a copy of a script used to display text from scriptbank folder and edit to reference your image as a hud.

You'll need to play around with the script a bit to get exactly what you want but thats basically how you do it.

There's a bunch of threads which provide night vision and various vision overlays. just download one of them and amend the files to suit the type of rendering effect you want.

You could have just left it at that, lol.

Thanks for the info, but I also wanted to know where the files are to modify these aspects, because I looked for a good half hour.

Hmmm... have you tried out any scripting tutorials to help you learn scripting a bit easier? They cover things in great detail and may be of more use to you than waiting around for one of us to reply.

Usually when you make text in your gae, you need to make a new image in Paint or something and save it into your languagebank\english\gamecore\text folder, and call your image from there in your script.

But, I still think a tutorial would be very beneficial to you.

Thanks for your input ply, but I have done some scripting for simple scripts that are INSIDE the game, for like stuff inside the gamecore folder, but none of these folders have a script for choosing the characters BEFORE you enter the game, see where I'm comming from?

And about these tutorials you have mentioned, are they on the forum or in my The Game Creators folder?

I don't need help so much on the scripting side, I just need to know where the file/script is for choosing a character before the game starts, so I can modify the text and change the image, not nessesarily how.
