I have been trying to overcome this, but nothing I do seems to change it. When I import a .x file or add a texture to a primitive, the object suddenly goes all monochrome with no shadows. Is this something to do with my system, or have I set something wrong?

For example:

sync on
sync rate 30

load object "character.x", 1

do

sync

loop

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think my character should be displayed in monochrome with nothing to distinguish his facial features from his head!

If you have a solution, please respond!

EDIT

Is it something to do with lights? Because I tried it with lights and it still didn't work.

Your textures are probably not being loaded correctly - maybe you haven't got them in the correct location in relation to the .x file.

No, I'm afraid not. It renders like that even if it doesn't have a texture.

Any other ideas?

Sure. Here's a picture of a castle I was using. But it's the same with every model I import.

It looks like there could be a problem with the normals on your object. Did you set them up on the object, and did you make sure that they were exported?

Thank you very much!

I was able to solve my problem. It turned I was exporting it as the wrong file type. Anyway, problem solved!
