and the new version that just came out last week makes it better, I think. Makes the painting window the main window, and all the docks children to that window. I like that a lot. Although my biggest problem with The GIMP is that it puts several windows in the taskbar... do we really need that? Why not just one? and when I give that one focus, focus the docks too.

But yes, the gimp is quite an amazing product.

GimpShop uses a really old and buggy version of Gimp, its probably best to use the original one.

I think the problem with the windows is that they are all Top Level Windows and are children of the desktop, which is why they all appear on the taskbar and are independent of eachother. Its pretty freakin annoying. I really do love GIMP though, its fantastic software and really on par with Photoshop!

Which is why I love the MDI based Paint Shop Pro 4... Everything in one Top Level Window.

GIMP is awesome though.

Should I continue coding or focus on my art? Vote here:

I'm not going to complain about the User Interface because it's a free product, however I'm sure I could come up with a few suggestions to improve it. If you have any ideas yourself you can contribute to the GIMP UI redesign process, here's a link:: http://gimp-brainstorm.blogspot.com/

PowerSoft, I actually used GimpShop until the new version of gimp came out. It's decent, but like was said already, it's pretty buggy.
