well just from watching the video, (and im going to be very blunt here), its sucks.
The parts that are bad: I saw in multiple places, there werent any walls, or a ceiling, and you could see other parts of the map (which you shouldnt) Not to mention the horrible mix of scifi, and ww2 media. pick one or the other, having a ww2 german soldier chasing you around in a space ship, is very illogical to say the least. Another thing i saw, was over use of weapons and ammo. You shouldnt have as many as you had in that one room. maybe like one rocket launcher (maybe) an assult rifle with a couple mags, and like a back up, would be plenty for just about any level i can think of (that is logical, and not just...out there). And to go back to the mix of media. walking through scifi rooms, then seeing an old antique door is very strange. and out of place.
well thats all i can think of thats bad right now. im downloading the game to get a better look.
and for the good: well...the lighting didnt look to bad.
ok obviously you need some practice. But so my post has some real meaning to it, im going to give you some help/pointers.
1. Never mix media, the only time you should, is like maybe some ww2 doors, or entities with like modern day media. Pick a time frame, (old, modern, scifi) and look for media that suits your time frame.
2. Look for other media besides just stock media, theres plenty of free stuff in the models and media section, and i know a good site, FPS-Free, that has lots of neat stuff.
3. Make sure there are no glitches or bugs! that means make sure there are no missing walls, or ceilings.
4. Make sure what the player is doing makes sense. Dont have him just running through rooms shooting up baddies. Give him an objective that goes with a story line.
5. Take it easy with weapons and ammo. Going around just powning the enemy can be fun at first, but it quickly gets old. Give the player a sense of fear, make him pay attention to his ammo count and health.
well hopes this helps, ill prolly have more to add once ive downloaded and played it.
