Well thus starts my second fpsc game. Hopefully I'll finish this one, . Its still major WiP. If I do finish it, i will be building the game in plys mod and efx mod. The game draws a lot of inspiration from portal (obviously), with some drawn from ELE and Smiley Industries. But like I said its a major WIP, but for me as a developer to keep interest in making it, i have to make a thread, hearing what people have to say about my work keeps my inspiration fueled. so if you like what you see, take the 30 seconds to say something, maybe give me some advice. . I have 2 screen shots to present and a new Sig thus far. by late tomorrow i should have another 3-5 screens up. I have a couple more rooms built, but i want to space out putting all the screen shots up, so im not just dropping everything i have done so far in one post.
---i know the shots look very simple, but thats what im going for, a simplistic-non fps eating up- puzzler.

Hope you like it. .

v v v is in heavy wip.

- all future screen shots will be updated to the first post. -

Looks great.

How many levels are you expecting to make, and how long will each one be?

Love the, weird abstract kind of level design.

It looks fantastic! The motion blur seems to be a little bit over the top, but I'm sure that in game play, it's much better. Right?

yea.... its kinda hard to explain, but if you've played around with the motion blur in the new release of efx, the standard when you turn it on, is set at 4.0, the way i have it set in my levels, are at 0.7-1.0....so its only that extreme if your really turning quick.

To be honest with you, i havent given the length/amount of levels some thought yet. Probably somwhere around 3+ levels, and like 5-10 puzzles each level, something like that.

Well that room in particular is really simple, its just a platforming room.
but the game in general is a puzzler, where you have to reach the teleportal to enter the next phase of the interview. The first Phase is all Physical Labour (I.E. Platforming), the second phase may be a giant labyrinth or something completely different.

@ Anyone Who Cares- anyways, to end my rant,, im for sure going to be releasing some more screenies today.

I agree with everyone else, the abstract design of your level is very pleasing to the eye.

I hope that all of the levels will be like that, as I enjoy that kind weird level design.

Thnx guys .

Well about to upload a new screenie to first post, its Room Alpha (second room). its still in HEAVY W.I.P. All Values are not permanant (I.E Bloom-water). and WIP, as in the room is not complete, im just showing screenies now, so you guys can see meh progress. .

The second room is pretty fun if i do say so myself. its cool because you start off at the top of the room (4 segments up) and you have to "Rock climb" down the abstract walls to get to the next room. Portal rules still apply, touching the water=death.

Did you say Plys Mod AND efx mod? How would you go about that?

Well, I have a theory, but it's already conflicting with the current screenshots.

To have both Ply's Mod and efxMod in one executable, he could technically be using Ply's Mod and using efxMod shaders applied to entities and using the (now tabooed) X-tasy Mod for effects such as Motion Blur......

Or something like that.

I think he was referring to making two seperate executables- one made in Plysters mod, and one made in EFX. This way it's still not in the basic FPSC for either version, but those with higher system specs can use the EFX version. If I am wrong then please disregard what I said. This is just how I understood it.

Huh, makes sense... though what will the benefit be of using Ply's Mod for one version? The whole point of Ply's Mod is extend gameplay, and if you do that, then none of that will be in the efxMod version. I mean, the only thing you really get out of efxMod is smoke and mirrors.

And if none of the exclusive features of Ply's Mod are going to be used, then it wouldn't much different than using FPSC V1.07

Well i mean ply if you have such a problem with me using your mod instead of 1.07 then ill use 1.07, but i figured since i was gonna use efxmod for graphics, id use your mod for the other version instead of 1.07, just cause. But i mean gosh, if its that much of an issue to you.

Because this game has "Portal" in its name, I guess you are looking for a Portal script...

Yeah, it's quite simple, but still effective in doing what it's supposed to do.

Not really, on the latter pages Ply outlined all the issues with it, like:

*Only one portal per segment, so shooting in between segments gives no juice,

*In and out portals are only in certain points, so shooting across a gap to make an in portal won't work,

*You can't see through them, so it looks weird,

*It lags becasue you have 3 entities per wall segment running scripts....

Yup, your right... I was too bored to read the whole thing, I just saw a portal script and said "Hey a portal script!!! Yay!!!"

And that's why we always have people coming in saying "Hey this is awesome!!!" after the thread had long since gone the way of vapour.
