Hey guys,

Is any one planning on getting the new golden axe game? I know alot of people look at it as a sexed up game and that is all. I grew up when Genesis was king of the home consoles and I loved playing Streets of Rage and Golden Axe each day. I plan to pick up my copy today once I get off work at wal-mart and see how awesome they re-did the death adder/golden axe world. I will post my review once I finish the game. Any comments on Sega's latest game?

I think the game looks pretty good. Funny, I was just playing the original a few hours ago lol.

But I won't be getting this. I was so furious when I found out there was no co-op and you can only play as the girl. It looks good but I won't be getting it.

Golden axe and streets of rage were two of the best games in the universe during the Sega genesis days. I loved attacking tiny merchants and taking their food to heal myself almost as much as I loved hitting bad guys with pipes and throwing bottles at them.
GENESIS FTW!

It seems kinda pointless with Fable2 due out in a couple of weeks, not sure that even a die hard Axe fan would choose this over Fable2.

Thing is though, Golden Axe had a feel to it, it reeked of 80's barbarian movies with animatronic dragons and long hair. When you play it on MAME you can almost smell the chips cooking in the background. That seems to be the case with old licenses, they have a game in mind (one that has been done to death) - then bolt a license onto it. What next?, add in some zombies, make the main character a werewolf and call it Altered Beast?. Loosing co-op is inexcusable, the entire charm of it was that you could play with a mate or mates, and then it's not so bad going the girl, or the dwarf, because you can work together. SEGA always had co-op games, it's what set them aside from the other console manu's, someone up high in SEGA should just tell the developers to stop acting like little bitches and add in co-op.

I mean look what they have done to Street Fighter 2 in comparison - I loose track of the version numbers but the new version on the 360 looks stunning. They took the graphical style SF has always had and made it work on 3D models - it's still pretty much the same game in essence, it's been brought into the next generation is all, and the fans will lap it up.

Looks alright, but it won't be Golden Axe for me, modern remakes lose the edge some of the old retro games had, it would be interesting to see a remake true to the original, that keeps its old charm.

I loved the old Mega-Drive games (or Genesis, dependant on what you know it as) Golden Axe, Desert Strike, Sonic and Streets of Rage were probably the most played in my childhood, until we got a playstation of course. The awesome thing is, my house mate brought down his Wii and he's got most of the old Mega-Drive games downloaded on it, including the original Golden Axe.

I think if they tried to make the new Golden Axe less like most games out today and more like the original, I'd probably buy it. I've already got realistic RPG's.

I know loosing the co-op really stinks. But then again I am happier with golden axe going more solo than going all online. I hate how a lot of games like call of duty 4 give you a small campaign and then make a huge online part for the game. Since I don't play online it does me no good if that add in all kinds of online functionality.

The game is rather one of sega's best, I've seen in awhile. I just received my copy of the game today and played for 3 hours and the game played great on the ps3. The only issue I saw so far with the game was that the camera loosened up quite a bit when your beast came to a stop from a sprint.

Interesting, my house mate bought a copy the other day for his PS3, he started playing it, I watched and well, we didn't think it was that great. It looked like an okay game, but nothing spectacular. He took it back for store credit, but each to their own.
