hi every1
i have a simple question about lighting, say if i have a scene outside, i want to add lighting so it would appear like it's sunlight, i tried normal light with very large radius but then behind the buildings become completely dark when it should have some light, i tried putting to lights at the corners but the result was awful, so is there any ideas on how to do this?

Raise the ambience level.

You can do this by:
Adjusting the SETUP-level file.
Or when testing the game press the < > keys.

Until you get the right effect that you wanted.

Also sometimes for outdoor sceneries its even better to just delete the lightmarkers.
Since the Omni lights in FPSC dont give that outdoor ambience effect.

But than the only problem would be...is that there are no shadows.

Anyway hope it helped.

Couple of things you can do.

1. Increase ambient lighting to suit level skybox (no shadows).

2. Use very carefully places light sources. This works ok until you start trying to use lights with things like trees which cause the lightmapper to die during build.

3. Build a terrain map in 3DWS or T.ED and render light / shadow mapping using a proper sun light source. Export terrain model and texture with baked in light and shadows then import into FPSC.

Option 3 will give you the best result visually but requires you to purchase a 3rd party application and terrain will have collision issues until FPSC fully supports them.

Here is a link to a map I made using light sources in an outdoor environment.
