hi! im interested in getting started in designing games, and i have a few questions.

1. does darkbasic classic have all the features to make a quality game, and easy enough for me to pickup?

2. does it contain a graphics maker/editor?

and now most importantly.

3. can it make 2d games? ONLY, 2d games? im going to make 3d games as well, but not until later.

4. can it make playing card games as well?

thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forums!

SoulHunter

I would say so! It is pretty slow compared to DarkBasic Pro and DarkGDK, but it is VERY easy to learn, if you put the time in. I took about 2 years to learn everything, and with 1 year I could already make a maze-like-game.

No, but I would recommend:

TrueSpace
Blender
Wings 3D
3DS Max

These are all model makers, and are pretty easy to learn.

Sure!
You can use the sprite commands and print image commands to display images.

Yep!

You can make ANYTHING you can make up! (Anything? - ANYTHING!!!!)

There are tons of tutorials and examples in DarkBasic and the Forums. So, have fun!

Adding on here. Yes it can, and no, you are not limited to 2d, it can do 3d as well.

Ever notice how in Microsoft word, the word "microsoft" is auto corrected to be "Microsoft" but "macintosh" just gets the dumb red underline?

why are there so many threads like this?
take a look at what everyone else is doing and you'll see what you can do with it.

A small program that works is better than a large one that doesn't.
