While surfing today I noticed that almost every single link i found via Google was down. It gives me DNS error every time, and lets me view a cached version (which works ok for some sites, not so well for others).

From a list of bookmarks I visit daily here are some sites that didn't work for me today:

http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/
http://www.penny-arcade.com/
http://www.xkcd.com/
http://www.booleansoup.com/
http://forum.leadwerks.com/
http://leadwerks.com/wiki
http://www.gametrailers.com/
http://kmtweb.hku.nl/
http://photobucket.com/
http://rapidshare.com/

Did I screw something up on my PC, or does anyone else have the same problem?

I tried most of them and they worked just fine for me...

And those aren't really half the internet, I think there's about two more websites for it to be the entire half!

It's about half of the bookmarks i visit daily, so by ratio they represent half the internet .

Some of the those sites are working again, but now others (including GOOGLE ITSELF) simply do not work. I tried calling my ISP but they put me on hold for 500 euros per second, so I hung up.

500 euros per second? At least its cheaper than fuel...

FRIGGIN' HELL, I just realized xkcd and CAD-online where among those. Not being able to view those is worth those 500 euros per second... Although KMTWeb pretty much compensates in lameness for the awesomeness of xkcd and CAD-online.

The 500 is perhaps a slight exaggeration They advertise it as 10 cents per minute, so I timed my call once, and for a 2 minute call my prepaid card had 5 euros deducted. That made me pretty mad.

When that happened I sent them an email telling them to help me via email and not give me the usual 'call our fantastically useless support line' crap they like to resort to, which seemed to work. But now I don't have access to my EMAIL.
