hey all, i'm new here and was wondering a couple things about dark basic.

1. does dark basic allow full worlds like world of warcraft or runescape?

2. are the graphics good if alot of time is put into a game? if possible could you compare it to a game? (example. it has similar graphics to guildwars, WoW, ect.)

3. is there alot of difference between pro and regular as far as graphics and language goes?

that about sums up my questions.

Firstly, I noticed that you double posted. Don`t do that

1) Yes, you can make anything you want, or comes into your mind. It just may be a little slow.

2) Yes, and no. It depends on what you think are good graphics. It can make graphics as good as nintendo 64 games like Donkey Kong 64 or Super Mario 64... But you can also make better graphics, it will just run slower.

3) Pro compiles to machine code. That means that the game is going to run a lot faster the classic, but it costs much more too. The language is not much harder to learn.

And: Welcome to the Forums!! Enjoy your stay!

hi jagh9

1-I haven't played these games but yes you can build world with a lot of work and time but I think you cannot import a world from a world construction program, the limits will come from the strenght of your machine and the number of object in the camera field(distance)

2-whith a recent computer/graphic card you can handle much more textures and fine models that let's say 10 years ago when db get released but you won't be able to produce a fine high end DX10 game

3-although I've decided not to turn to DBpro until I fully know DBclassic you should be aware that pro's got a much more eficient technic acording to graphic transparencies, also pro can manage to deal with bones animated character(but you will need programs like 3dmax to produce them(easily.?.) as far as I know)
you can buy a lot of extensions for pro that will save you time and experience coding it yourself(but it can turn expensive for an individual and hard to control/manage)

now to conclude I think you can produce a very good game(like max payne I presume) and then easily(at least not impossible)transport it to pro if you need some ehancement but even then you may not reach what big teams can make out of their mind...
(sorry for the misspelling and other things I'm french)

Have you been cloning yourself again?

A small program that works is better than a large one that doesn't.

I beg your pardon for those lines that shouldn't have happened here.

Well to explain let's say that it comes from our new president that said something like "If you don't like France, quit it"
I love france as my family is there for more than a thousand years so it's like my root country, but it tends to be difficult to be an intelectual in a place where liberties are dying and human rights just fades away...
So my body keeps on fighting and my mind does his best to enlight the ruins but my spirit is divided.
I pushed my family to have that back door in a place that is not panacea but still an oportunity to exil if I go on trial for sorcery.
