Hello Everyone,

I've been inspired by this game: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0-5IFA9difA to create one like that, but I'm really confused if it's 2D or 3D. I like the genre of the game as well. Basically, the game is like a side scroller, where you can click doors to go inside the rooms etc. Any idea if this would be hard to create as well?

Thanks everyone,
And happy halloween.

some parts of the game are in 2d while others are done in 3d

That would depend on you...If your just beginning then yes that would be hard. But even if your not it'll take some time to make it for sure.

I had to find another video too see the gameplay in action.

[edit]
I just watched more of the video and it looks like the characters do scale slightly along the z plane. So I am now leaning toward the fact that this may have been done 3d.

At first I was thinking multiple layer tile engine 2d, but looking closely at the characters they are able to move closer/further very smoothly without looking like there are preset layer paths.

I am thinking that if you want it to play exaclty like that it may be easier to just do it in 3d.

good luck!

I didn't notice the z plane scaling (hard to tell at youtube quality), but you could do scaling in 2D. That game certainly could be done in 2D, as either way all of the artwork is obviously 2D (and a lot of 3D pre-rendered to 2D). You really could do it in either 2D or 3D though, but my guess is that their game is strictly 2D
