Is that Claymore Pure green? Looks good, but you really need to sort out the texture.

Having been in the military and been trained to use one, I think you need the stensil words 'Front Towards Enemy' one it in black.

Front
Towards Enemy

Army is great, treat everyone as if they were stupid and no one will have an excuse to be stupid.

...adding the verbage yourself, to the existing texture, is easy enough to do. Go for it.

Served myself, and it always made me chuckle everytime I saw the warning. Apparently playing soldier isn't easy for everyone.

The sad part is that the reason it was there in the first place, is because someone was originally too stupid to know the business end of their toys of maiming and death...

Ah the army is was the best and worst 6 years of my life. The last
M18A1 I deployed had "FRONT TOWARD ENEMY" cast into the body of the mine. I did not model it so I could keep the poly count low. I will make a new texture, with "FRONT TOWARD ENEMY" stenciled in black, even though, I never saw one with it stenciled in any color. I have only seen it cast into the body. Either way you trip one front or back, your going to call out medic...........HAHAA

My computer beat me at chess, but I sure beat it at kickboxing.

You could split the difference and make the text look cast via the texture. Just have two layers for the text one black, one white both set to 50% overlay or soft light then offset them from each other. That's the simplest way, of course. So, I'm sure you can come up with something a little more advanced.

Yes lots of polies already I didn't wan't to put anymore in it, if you don't like the model don't download it. I don't care I made it for me, about 6 months ago and just got around to scripting it. I just thought I would share it.

@Matuka "Soo, I heard u liek lots of polygons;"
"this is good for FPSC!" where did you here any of that it didn't come from me?

You could easily shave off those excess polys and bring the polycount about 1/3 that size.

...I am very saddened to hear that the folly of youth, and the bad manners that come with it has reared its ugly head yet again.

Some folks just can't be appreciative of the generosity of others, and will choke the life out of a gesture with whining, and knitpicking about things that should not be belabored.

Personally, I think that heltor's ceasing distribution of his wonderful free models is a huge blow to the community, and understand his frustration 100%.

@heltor,

I will always support any decision that you make, my friend. I ask that you please reconsider halting the sharing of your wonderful models.

Those who have offended you lack manners, are ungrateful, and will never understand the loss, or get your message. It's the good, kind, and friendly folks will suffer the most, as a result, and that would be a shame.

Thanks,

Seth Black

@heltor- Don't leave, these guys were just being stupid. The model looks very nice, I see this being a valuable assest to a army game.

@seth, Pbcrazy, Beast E Gargoyle, Thanks guy's I made a new texture for the claymore. I was going to post it till I got crap. My uncle always told me "If you go to party, where they give you crap, don't go to their party, again" I have to go before my blood sugar drops as low as Matukas aka "L.T. Tatters" I.Q.

@ heltor, I hope all goes well for you in whatever you decide to do...You are A ok in my book! Thanks for all what you have given to the community...Just to let you know..your hard work and talent was and is very much appreciated by most of us on the TGC forums.

Heltor;

You have absolutely no reason to leave. Someone pointed out to you that the model almost tripled FPSC's poly recommendations for a prop that small. You got offended by this (Somehow), left, and in some ways, pulled a strop.

No-one offended you, at least not enough for you to do what you did. If someone said "Heltor, this high poly model is crap, the texture sucks, get off the forum", then I would understand. But being as no-one said anything like that, you should pull yourself together, get this thread locked and start afresh.

Aaagreen - I hardly think that "HOLY POLYGON WASAGE!!!!!" is the sort of professional criticism that is to be expected of a mature forum audience, and therefore his decision to leave based on the above comments is rather understandable. Personally, I wouldn't want to be part of a game-dev forum were everyone talked like the 9 year olds who think they "own" on CS. The fact that you are trying to tell him, rather blatantly, that his decision is wrong, and that he has no right to leave, just shows me that you are incapable of comprehending this from his perspective. He posted free media, and instead of thanks, someone came a long and started bashing his work. Constructive criticism is one thing - but the criticism I saw here was juvenile, inconsiderate, and unprofessional.

...the history on these boards has very often been one of being far from a family. There was a time, not too long ago, when flamewars were happening on a regular basis, and disrespect was the norm.

Heltor has received this kind of attitude before (as have I), and is quite frankly fed up with the dung. Pretty sad, but easy to understand really...
